Hidden Gems: Meet Italina Kirknis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Italina Kirknis.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I went from being a championship tennis player to working in the legal field to becoming a leader in leveraging LinkedIn for business. I had a “dream job” working in the legal field after graduating from law school, but I found myself quite miserable even though things were going so well. Soon after, I made the decision to switch careers. To what? I didn’t know. I went onto LinkedIn because back in 2010, LinkedIn was primarily a job search tool. However, I didn’t want to spam out my resume like everyone else. Instead, I networked with others on the platform, built relationships, and shared posts that today we would categorize as personal branding. A company reached out to me on LinkedIn saying, “Italina, we see you everywhere. We love what you’re doing. We want you to do it for us.” They didn’t even know what to call it.

Again, this was back in 2010 when people weren’t talking about personal branding the way we do today. The Facebook business page hadn’t even rolled out yet. I agreed to create branding posts for the company on the side until I found a job. Another company reached out to me on LinkedIn asking for content creation and branding. Then a small business messaged me asking for the same. When a small business owner asked for the same service, I realized I no longer had time to look for a job and go on interviews. For the first time, I played with the idea of starting my own business, providing this personal branding and content creation/posting service. Two years later, I officially started my social media management company, made my first hire, and built my team over the years. Now we have clients all over the country in 13 different States, revamping social media pages/bios on LinkedIn, Facebook Business Page, Instagram and Clubhouse. And of course, we create weekly posts, branding our clients and ensuring they are relevant. It’s been an incredible journey.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
She said, “Italina, you don’t know me, but I’ve been following you on Facebook. I’ve been seeing you online, and I just wanted to say you have inspired me. I left my job; I’m now doing work that I love. I decided to turn my passion into profit. So keep doing what you’re doing because if you’ve inspired me, I’m sure there’s a lot more people that you’re inspiring.” When I got off the phone with her, I realized I’m in business, not just to make a living. I’m in business to inspire others to take action.

That could be any action, whether it’s taking action in your life in a personal way or professionally, taking action to Upgrade Your Online Presence. Whatever it is, my business is the vehicle through which I inspire others to take action. Reenergized by this revelation, fresh ideas came to me for creating a successful business. Grit, perseverance, investing in myself and my company, these are the things that allowed me to build my social media company into what it is today.

We specialize in creating personalized, customized social media content. First, we rewrite bios on LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and Clubhouse. Next, we create personalized social media posts just for you and post for you each week on your various social media sites. My team and I are known for creating customized, personalized post (personal branding) that shows your personality, helps your sphere get to know you on a human level (relationship building), and sets you apart from others in your industry.

I made the 2020 List of Influential African American Business Women. While we help people across their various social media sites, I’m especially known for how to leverage LinkedIn for business. As a result, I get asked to give over 40 presentations a year on How to Leverage LinkedIn.

Going from using LinkedIn as merely a job search tool to using it as a networking, business tool for the purposes of building relationships and taking on new clients (just like I did at the beginning of my journey back in 2010), this is what sets me apart.
