Today we’d like to introduce you to Anca Savelio.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was born in Bucharest, Romania and had a happy childhood influenced by my father’s passion for arts and real estate. My father overcame many challenges in life as he lost both his parents and became an orphan at the age of five. As early as 14, he started working at the glass factory to pay his way through school and get a good college education. A successful attorney in his late 30’s, he instilled in me the importance of family, hard work and home ownership. I was only a few years old when he started exposing me to weekly visits to art galleries, the theater and antique stores. His teachings about real estate investing as a solid financial foundation for the future set the tone for my future interests, as I moved to the United States in my early 20’s and started my real estate career shortly after.
I bought my first property when I was only 24 years old and a young Realtor. I invested all my commission earnings I had saved that year and that gave me a great sense of pride, as it was the first personal accomplishment that I owed to myself without anyone’s help. The next 15 years were an exciting adventure with highs and lows as I was finding my way as a real estate investor and building my career as a real estate professional during the market frenzy in the mid 2000’s and after the housing crash in 2008. San Diego was always the place I wanted to call home, with endless possibilities for outdoor activities, amazing weather, coffee shops and restaurants with open-air dining, which was ideal for a young European-born girl like me.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I believe that a long real estate career automatically comes with challenges where you need to continuously adapt to fluctuating markets, changes in the mortgage industry and technological advancements, also balancing personal and family time as my weekends are always filled with client appointments.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
After many years of being affiliated with some of the top brokerages in the nation, in 2016 I decided to join Allison James Estates and Homes, a family-owned brokerage with offices in 15 states, a great culture and business model. I surrounded myself with some of the top professionals in the industry and affiliated fields and have some of the best resources in San Diego for escrow, home loans and home inspectors, home renovation contractors, etc. What sets my business apart from others is the way I conduct my business, always putting the client’s interest first and being one step ahead of everyone else, anticipating a potential challenge or client’s need during the transaction. I’ve always been a problem solver, so to me, nothing is impossible to fix or achieve. When others throw their hands in the air with frustration and ready to give up, I see opportunities to use my expertise and resources and find a way out of that challenging situation that is putting a successful close in danger.
What matters most to you? Why?
My family is the most important component and driving factor in everything that I do. My daughter and husband are my team at home and my best and proudest supporters when it comes to my work. Being so fortunate to have a business that was built on referrals and return business where most of my clients are or become close friends makes all my hard work worth it, as I get to benefit from their appreciation, respect and friendship.
