Inspiring Conversations with Jeremy Henley of TheQwikFix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremy Henley.

Hi Jeremy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Over the last 15 years I have had a successful career in technology and software companies which has allowed me to invest in real estate on the side. As I continued to build a portfolio of rental property and through rehabbing homes all along the way, I began to recognize consistent issues with real estate transactions revolving around the repair process.. It was always difficult to get contractors who were available and qualified to provide a quote for the work that needed to be completed in order to close the deal.

On top of that, you always hear people telling their horror stories of contractors who over-promised and under-delivered on timing, pricing or both! My background in software led me to believe that by utilizing software solutions, these problems could be solved. The result was the founding of TheQwikFix.

Our team looked at hundreds of home inspections and realized that we could leverage our existing database of costs from home rehabbing to produce accurate pricing for the majority of repairs. We could also automate a large part of the process using machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques I learned from prior companies.. Our first prototype, or MVP, was launched two years ago and I am happy to say the company is seeing steady growth and improving our tech each week! The company has become a trusted solution for hundreds of top agents all over San Diego County and is beginning to expand into other markets.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
What we are trying to accomplish is very hard and we do not have it all figured out. We have made great progress but the goal of changing the way consumers perceive home repair contractors is a difficult one. Incorporating artificial intelligence and machine learning is also very difficult. The tech we are trying to build requires talented individuals and on a limited budget they can be hard to find.. As a tech startup, we want to move fast and change the world overnight but it takes a long time and a lot of effort, and nothing ever seems to go as quickly as we want it to!

We’ve been impressed with TheQwikFix, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
TheQwikFix leverages our technology to make it significantly easier and faster for real estate agents to get a detailed quote for the items flagged in a home inspection report. Previously real estate agents would spend hours calling contractors, finding ones who were willing to meet them at someone else’s property to provide a quote that had a low chance of being approved so they could negotiate a credit for the buyer.

Our platform has become the leader in providing these quotes with a click of a button. The buyer, seller, or agent can upload any home inspection, and within hours, have a detailed, line by line quote for the issues flagged in the home inspection. It is unheard of in the industry to have a firm, accurate and executable quote be delivered so fast and without having to meet anyone onsite.

We are so happy when our clients tell us we saved them hours of their day while relieving one of the most stressful parts of a transaction for them. We have even had clients credit TheQwikFix for adding years to the end of their life for how much of a game-changer the technology is for their business!

I am proud that we have been able to create a technology layer between homeowners and contractors that actually solves a major problem as opposed to the various apps that just give you lists of contractors in a specific trade.
