Inspiring Conversations with Lauren Howe of The Social Block

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Howe.

Lauren, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Founded by myself, Lauren Howe, and fabulous Co-Founder Teri Uyovbievbo, The Social Block has seen monumental growth and success since its inception. The Social Block has successfully managed and grown corporate, independent and influencer accounts across the country. The Social Block has seen great success for its clients, starting a variety of accounts from ground zero and building to upwards of 10k followers, running large-scale ad campaigns, and partnering with nonprofits throughout the communities we serve.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The Social Block was born out of an intense local need identified by both Teri and I during the onset of COVID-19 in Los Angeles. We saw many small, family-owned or nonprofit businesses struggling to keep up with larger businesses in the area, and in many cases, going out of business altogether. One of the main reasons we saw for this was the lack of marketing knowledge and the inability of small business owners to promote themselves online. We wanted to make digital and social media marketing accessible to all businesses despite their size, location, or industry.

While starting a business isn’t easy at any time, because we were filling a specific need created by the pandemic, we were fortunate to see success from very early on.

We’ve been impressed with The Social Block, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Both Teri Uyovbievbo and I (Lauren Howe) have been very proud of The Social Block’s growth as Co-Founders of the company. We believe that what sets us apart is our niche is the marketing industry. We prioritize affordable rates for nonprofits and small businesses because it is essential for small businesses and nonprofits to flourish to be active in an online sphere. As we saw throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, many small businesses were unprepared to promote themselves almost solely online, especially in the cases of businesses in the service industry. Our affordable rates, scalable packages and coaching mindset for small businesses set them up for success in the long run.

We want readers to know that marketing and social media can be accessible, affordable and should make a big difference in how your business functions. Although we work with all kinds of businesses, our specialized packages for small businesses and nonprofits are what we believe set us apart from other local agencies.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
We believe that adaptability is essential when it comes to marketing, and especially when discussing how businesses have had to navigate a difficult market during the pandemic. Being able to stay on top of trends and change course when necessary is incredibly important to a business’s survival, especially in these unprecedented times.
