Inspiring Conversations with Ray Taylor of YLSNE

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ray Taylor.

Hi Ray, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hello All,

My name is Ray and I was born and raised here in Southeast San Diego. I started my company YLSNE a year and a half ago and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Since I was a child, I have always loved learning new things and as I have gotten older, I am learning how to apply that new knowledge to my everyday life.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There has definitely been some hiccups along the way, but you have to get through them and continue to get through them no matter what. No excuses. Learning new things about business has definitely been challenging as well. Separating business expenses from personal, learning about business credit, business insurance, business taxes, brick, and mortars, etc. It is very apparent that we are not taught the basics about anything we do in our everyday lives, unfortunately.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
YLSNE is an acronym for You Learn Something New Every day. YLSNE was started to encourage and help with lifelong learning. Learning something new every day is not only beneficial mentally; it is also beneficial physically. Picking up a new book, researching new topics, and getting new information from our peers are all ways to stimulate thought and action. We here at YLSNE understand that and are here to inform the people about subjects and topics that are not necessarily common knowledge, but should be. We are unbiased when we speak on our podcast because the information speaks for itself. We are proud of our brand and our logo and we hope that when people see it, they are encouraged to learn something new.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t believe in luck. Everything we do in life is a choice and certain consequences, both intended and unintended, come about because of those choices. In life and in business, I try to be a good human being because of this no matter the situation.
