Inspiring Conversations with Sergio Fabbrini

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sergio Fabbrini.

Hi Sergio, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m the founder and president of We are a text to order, at home car wash service located and based in San Diego, CA. A little bit about me personally, I grew up in Michigan and for me business started at a young age. At eight years old I would polish and paint rocks to sell at my mom’s garage sale’s, at 13 years old I was buying Nintendo Wii’s and reselling them on eBay for double if not triple the price. At 14 years old, I opened an auto body “shop” in my parent’s garage working on people’s cars, restoring German classics all after I got home from school and filled my weekends playing hockey. The neighbors didn’t really like the idea of the neighborhood “shop” so late high school days (17 years) I took a job at a “real” shop.

Fast-forward a little I moved to San Diego and that allowed me to see a different world. I took a job in event/video production world. 11 years later, I purchased the company I worked for. My second year in the business we were hit by the 2020 pandemic. We had a record year on the books and it all went away in just a few days. We spent the entire month of April “un-planning” events and it was a very emotional time for my young family and I. Especially because we were also expecting our first child in November 2020.

I didn’t let much time go by before I decided to touch base with my roots, Michigan roots that its… CARS! The pandemic was a reminder too me of the importance of blue-collar work and that fact that it will never go away.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business? was started mid pandemic. The initial idea was written down on paper End of May 2020. From there, we met with wash technicians and software developers to see if the idea was plausible. By November 2020, we had the software ready for BETA testing. End of February / top of March, we began testing the market to see their response. Where are we now… slammed and we haven’t even began our full marketing plan. We are doing our best to grow smart, not fast!

Like most businesses, it started with a problem that needed to be solved. The problem? There needed to be a better and simpler way to have your vehicle washed. A friction-free experience where you can get a basic high-quality wash at the comfort of your home without the hassle. So we designed an ordering system to be as simple as possible… texting! We set out to create an ordering system that would not be dependent on an APP. We wanted to be a contact in your address book that you can text “WASH” and we’ll let you know when we can arrive.

The simplicity continues with our pricing and the type of service we offer. All vehicles are the same price (cars, trucks, vans & SUVS’), the tip is included and we offer a discount for every vehicle you add. Type of service we offer…? A high-quality hand wash at home that includes: Hand Wash, towel dry, spray wax, vacuum, window wipe down (in/out) and tires cleaned and dressed. We included the core services you need to have a clean vehicle without being oversold on items you may not want or need.

The simplicity of our system is finished with the payment. All customers who create an account are required to add a method of payment on file. That information is encrypted and stored on a major merchant service providers server. Automatically once your wash has been completed and you are satisfied your card is billed. You never have to worry about having cash on hand for the “tip” or running your credit card on site.

Another thing that is very important to us is supporting our local San Diego community. has been able to give jobs to local wash technicians and pay them a honest rate, that’s part of the reason we include the tip in the price. Our technicians are not motivated by tip money to do better, they are already motivated to be a part of our network because of what we pay. In addition to that we as a company are 100% CALIFORNIAN. Our shirts (Los Angeles), hats (Los Angeles), software (San Diego/Los Angeles), technicians (San Diego), printed cards (San Diego), graphics design (Los Angeles), customer support (San Luis Obispo), marketing (San Diego), tech support (Los Angeles)… even the gifts we send influencers for partnering with us are from Sugarfina (Los Angeles). We love this state and have done everything in our power to keep the work here.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The original idea was very basic. However, the technology to support was not such a simple task. The “back-end” is quite complex and ever-evolving. We ran into issues finding a developer that would actually take us on because we didn’t have much capital and we learned that triggering databases, charging customers and alerting wash technicians through a text message system was really what we were pioneering.

We are currently working on the next version that will be a lot “smarter” and will streamline the customer and wash technician process even more with less hiccups.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
You have to be willing to put yourself out there and stretch yourself. Go to places that are uncomfortable and spend time with people that are smarter than you.

Hard work and dedication are VITAL but you also need community and people to discuss it with. Listen to what people say and be willing to change the process if need be. At the same time, stay true to the core of what you set out to do. Lastly, it’s okay to let some ideas die. I have a book of ideas that I let die. When I look back on them 90% are terrible. Hear people out, see what they think… talk to the experts.
