Life and Work with Adesola Akindele

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adesola Akindele.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Media has always been a part of me. From coming up with an idea and bringing it to life with a clients brand vision and mission in mind.

More Media though young is an evolution and compilation of years of experience and failed predecessors. I have come to embrace failures as they let me know my limitations and when to ask for help. Most important lessons learned.

Getting into media and brand development was an act of love as my then boyfriend after uní was a graphic designer. I fell in love with how he played on screen and I built my first media company around his skills. Working together closely, I gained creative direction skills to enhance his work. It wasn’t until now, almost 15 years later that I have embraced my calling in this field and decided to build an international brand from the UK in San Diego and soon Mexico.

Has it been a smooth road?
Where I am at in life, I have learned to embrace obstacles. How else would I know what I could do even when I have had my hands tied? My struggles make me a better person, mother and business owner. The key is to learn from every experience no matter how uncomfortable. Discomfort activates the desire to make a change. I love to share my lessons and encourage others to take the entrepreneurship dive. It is the most fulfilling path and like any other area in life has obstacles but overcoming them is rewarding.

My advice is to surround yourself with link-minded, progressive, goal smashing and solution-led people. Be mindful of yourself and take time for you daily not just to heal when you get overwhelmed but to reset your mind to a positive trajectory. Learn to let go, the only person you can control is yourself! Finally get back up after every mistake! Something better is always waiting just ahead.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with More Media Company – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am an entrepreneur! I own a media company called More Media International which is UK based and trades internationally. I specialized in brand development and brand asset creation with an emphasis on user experience. How your client experiences your brand on every visual, print, digital platform is my thing. I also love working on e-publications.

Alongside managing more media, I have a passion to foster entrepreneurship and encourage self-mastery in others. This lead to BBX Academy which houses my Entrepreneur Workbook, Mentoring Program as well and my new #HTMAM project. I host a podcast with a central theme of personal enrichment and financial freedom.

I am most proud of my brands now because I know what I am good at and what I am not. I have learned how to respect another person’s vision and push themselves beyond what they envisioned. My company does more than expected because we think ahead always.

Often it feels as if the media, by and large, is only focused on the obstacles faced by women, but we feel it’s important to also look for the opportunities. In your view, are there opportunities that you see that women are particularly well positioned for?
The #Metoo movement has unearthed so many issues many women have faced on a daily basis. Been a business owner, I have always thought about creating a culture that is unisex equal. I encourage everyone to be respectful and appreciate the skill set of one another.

To even the playing field, we need more women-owned organizations. We are moving toward women led corporates but entrepreneurship is key as well as working together toward a common goal. Part of my week is spent mentoring women to become entrepreneurs and what I have found is many have a mindset that is conditioned by their ancestral expectations, societal culture and negative experiences.

We need to not only inspire and motivate but create clear pathways from a grass root level for every woman.
