Today we’d like to introduce you to Allie Lochiatto.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born and raised on the east coast, right outside Boston. Soon after graduating college as a Math major in 2009, I started my career in business and technology consulting. I was working for a small start-up, working hard days and long hours, and I craved a creative outlet. After many months of putting it off out of fear and angst, I finally created a fashion blog to document my personal style, Allie Wears.
Since bloggers were nowhere near as popular then as they are now, I was able to build a strong following and connect with local brands and businesses around the Boston area. I dedicated all of my free time outside of my day job to my blog and watched it gain popularity quite quickly. After winning Boston’s Best Fashion Blog in 2014, I seriously considered quitting my job and blogging full-time.
Around the same time, I was presented with an awesome opportunity to move to California for my day job. I grew up dreaming of living in the sunny state of California, so I jumped at the chance and moved here in 2015. I now live in San Diego, working full-time in IT while managing my blog, in addition to modeling for Brand Models and freelance writing fashion articles for thredUP. Since moving to California, I no longer dress for four seasons, but I still aim to create content that both coasts can relate to. It’s been a wild ride, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I like to consider myself a bi-coastal blogger since I have a strong readership on both coasts and I am lucky enough to travel back and forth to host blog events and maintain creative collaborations. Moving forward, I have big hopes and dreams for my blog and the relationships I have built along the way. I plan to foster these connections and take my blog and my business to the next level.
Has it been a smooth road?
It’s never easy taking a risk! I was petrified to start a blog because I was worried it would fail and worst of all, I would be judged. But, what’s the fun in that? The success of my blog is solely determined by me and the time, energy, and effort I put into it. It’s that kind of pressure that motivates me to work hard at it every single day. I wake up every morning excited to grow my brand, market my blog, and produce content that is nice to look at it and worth reading. You need to have a positive attitude in order to be successful.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Allie Wears – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
The goal of my personal style blog, Allie Wears, is to help women dress cute without breaking the bank. I like to document what I’m wearing, where I’m shopping, and how to navigate the fashion world while on a budget. My posts include tips on how to save money, where to find the best deals, and how to put outfits together that most people wouldn’t normally consider. I write my blog posts as if I’m talking to a friend. The content is relatable, and I think that is what attracts most of my readers. I try to empower women to wear what they want with confidence, and that if they feel good, they’ll look good, no matter what they’re wearing!
