Life and Work with Ashley Renuart

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Renuart.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Ashley. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My entreprenurial path and self-employment journey began almost two years ago after giving birth to our daughter, Ellie. I made the hard (and very emotional) decision to part ways with Anthropologie, a retail company with whom I spent most of my 20’s creating displays and installations for. Sure, I graduated college with a degree in fine art. But I truly grew up within the company, learning more about my creative self than any other period of my life.

My formal and applied skills are both self-taught and graciously collected from talented colleagues, artists, mentors, and friends over the years. With all this knowledge and experience under my belt, I knew it was time to branch out for myself. I began working with small businesses, helping transform and elevate their retail spaces through sculpture and display.

I has taken time to build a client base and (hardly) a name for myself here in San Diego. I don’t think I’ll ever feel like I’ve achieved success or ‘arrived’. But I am so thankful for the support of loving family and friends, and the trusting clients who have appreciated and seen value in what I do.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Not at all!

I think my greatest hurdle has been leveling with perfectionism, anxiety and self-doubt. I know so many of us creatives out there feel the same exact way. We have a difficult time showing ourselves self grace when it comes to the pressure of keeping up and measuring up.

I also believe that our greatest strengths are in turn our greatest weaknesses. I am ambitious, a time optimist and almost always bite off more than I can chew. I’ve learned quickly the importance of prioritization and allowing myself downtime. We all get burnt out! I’ve also personally found that subscribing to ‘more’ isn’t always better. For me, success doesn’t mean more jobs, more employees, and more money. Instead creative freedom, executing work that I am proud of, and delighting my client is what it’s all about!

Lastly I think humility and putting in the hard work is so so important, whether we’re just beginning or 20 years in to running a business. We are always learning, always evolving, and always on the same playing field.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Ashley Renuart – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am an artist and full service visual arts studio. I specialize in creating custom sculptures, installations, and displays for retail spaces, events, editorials and beyond! Each installation is one of a kind, expertly fabricated, and designed specifically for your unique space.

As a creative, I value craftsmanship, timelessness and true artistry. I believe my eye for composition, attention of detail, and experience working with a wide range of mediums is what sets me apart. My work is organic, feminine, and often times inspired by elements found in nature.
I truly LOVE what I do!
