Life and Work with Aubrey Frost

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aubrey Frost.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Aubrey. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
In the late 80’s I watched the movie Steel Magnolias starring Julia Roberts. The character Truvy Jones, played by Dolly Parton, owned a small town hair salon. I remember watching Truvy whirl around her little country salon curling and cutting and talking and laughing. I was sold. That’s what I wanted. Twenty-nine years, a marriage, two children and a lot of life later…. Here I am.

Has it been a smooth road?
The journey is what you make of it. Neither bumpy nor smooth, but more of an adventure. I married young, started a family and with my husband in the Air Force we traveled a lot until landing back in San Diego to raise our little girls. Throughout our journey as a family, I worked waiting tables and even spent two years as a lunch lady at my daughter’s elementary school. I knew that I wanted to become a hairstylist one day, but I had to wait until we were back home in California to begin my career.

As soon as the plane landed I enrolled in cosmetology school and began the seven-year journey of owning my name. My advice to those woman working towards your goal, no matter your age, is to be patient with yourself. It’s not a race. I enjoyed every bump, u-turn, roadblock and the wrong path I ever encountered. maybe not at the moment, but it made me the woman I am.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with blonde. – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I love a good blonde! I love highlighting and blending different tones of blonde together. I get my kicks on a partial highlight with a base break and a beautiful gloss to tie it all together. But I don’t stop there! Gimme a brunette or ginger any day and I’m happy as a clam!

Where I specialize is my nature. I’m a talker and a listener and a nurturer. I connect with people. That’s where my success lies. That’s what sets me apart.

What advice would you give to someone at the start of her career?
My best friend is my biggest cheerleader. When I finally took her advice and opened my own business, she said to me, ” babe, when you open yourself up to the universe the universe opens itself up to you”. It is the truth.
