Life and Work with Cherie Harrington

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cherie Harrington.

Cherie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My love for real estate started many years ago. I was raised the daughter of a successful, self-made female real estate broker in New York. Seeing my mother’s passion for the business began to fuel my own. Although most of my life revolved around one corporate job, I always found myself doing something related to real estate. Most recently in my 31 year corporate career, I ran the franchise and real estate department for a Fortune 500 company. Having dabbled in real estate for 14 years, I decided it was time to take a chance by quitting my corporate job to open my own real estate company. That was over two years ago and I have not looked back… not even for a second. Once I made my mind up that I wanted to pursue my passion in real estate I jumped in with both feet. With the support of my amazing husband, I am finally living my dream and truly following my passion. I now have the ability to make a difference in people’s lives and help them manage their most expensive asset, their home.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Running a real estate business has its ups and downs. You must be driven and understand that the client needs always come first, no matter what. I believe in relationships over transactions. When you build relationships and genuinely care about your clients your business will grow. Always be true to yourself and do what you love. When you do, the business will come.

Please tell us about North County Luxury Living – Keller Williams Realty.
I market myself as a luxury real estate agent. I believe that my commitment to a luxury experience at any price point sets me apart from other agents. I genuinely care about my clients and want them to feel completely taken care of…. from our first meeting, throughout the buying or selling process and years after we close their transaction. I believe in clients for life and create this experience for the first time home buyer as well as the sophisticated luxury homeowner.

Do you think there are structural or other barriers impeding the emergence of more female leaders?
Having been a Director for a Fortune 500 company for 31 years, I understand the struggles of female leaders. I was fortunate enough to build relationships with other women so that we could brainstorm ways to navigate through the issues that women face in leadership on a daily basis. I ran the Women’s Leadership Forum for our region which helped me to gain an even deeper understanding of what women were experiencing in the workforce and how to come together as one to face the issues and improve them.

Currently, I am a member of the Vegan Lady Boss network in San Diego. I have found this organization to be eye-opening as their female leaders are from all backgrounds and run a multitude of businesses. We work together as a team to support one another’s businesses and help educate the group so that we can all become better business owners, women, and human beings.
