Life and Work with Jessica Tyransky

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Tyransky.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Growing up in Pennsylvania I never thought that someday I’d be living in San Diego with a career that I fall more in love with every day!

I moved out here after graduating college in order to pursue my MBA, and after some self-reflecting, decided that wasn’t the path for me. I decided to go to cosmetology school, and within the first few weeks, realized this was the right decision.

I absolutely love what I do! I’ve only been doing hair now about 4 years, but I look forward to going to work every day and continuing to grow and learn. I love building relationships with my clientele and becoming closer to them with every appointment. Without them, my dream career wouldn’t be possible. I am grateful every day!

Has it been a smooth road?
Owning your own business definitely isn’t always smooth, but it is worth it!

I worked full time waiting tables while I was going to school, and continued to do so as I built my business. This was tiring, and I felt like giving up sometimes, but the light at the end of the tunnel continued to propel me forward.

Nothing worthwhile comes easy, and the struggles help foster growth and determination to get better. I’m not perfect and still continue to make discoveries, which is honestly one of my favorite parts of this job. It’s an ever-evolving industry and I’ve grown to love being pushed out of my comfort zone. I never thought I’d be able to get paid to do something I love and all the hard work is worth it!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Jessica Tyransky Hair and Makeup – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I specialize in color (brunettes, blondes, balayage, etc.) and styling/bridal. I love being a part of the wedding industry and love the rapport I build with my brides!

Bridal is such a huge part of my business and it’s fun to be able to get creative and create unique styles for brides.

It’s also great to meet other artists at weddings. There’s so much talent out there and it makes the day exciting to learn from your peers!

What advice would you give to someone at the start of her career?
Don’t give up! You’re going to make mistakes and feel like it will never “click.” But it will! And those mistakes are where we learn the most. There’s always something to learn and it’s important to be open to learning from other people. You can’t take over the world by yourself!

And always be kind! 🙂
