Life and Work with Lucero Adame

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lucero Adame.

Lucero, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My passion has always been anything that had to do with making someone feel beautiful, whether it be just curling their hair to enhancing their natural beauty.

At some point, we all start with family & friends, which is always an honor when the first person they think of is you to come to.

I regret not finishing high school on time but I knew it was never too late.

I then had my daughter in 2011 and a year later, found out she was diagnosed with 15 Q Syndrome which made things a little bit more difficult to go back to school with all her appointments & check-ups.

I was working 2 jobs got my own place with my daughter, got ourselves a car for transportation for her appointments, I felt like everything was going in place but still no time to finish school.

I met my husband and everything was like a fairytale story. We got married & decided to have a baby, my husband had asked me to stop working and just stay home with my daughter and enjoy my pregnancy. I then decided to finish my GED. I mean… why not right? I was just going to be home might as well take advantage of that time before I had my son. In less than 3 months, I finished my 70 credits and was able to graduate on time with 2016 class.

I finally was able to enroll in Bellus Academy (best decision of my life!).

Bellus Academy gives you a lot of opportunities like going to events, helping people in need, being able to glam up girls with special needs for their prom, little girls that were going to their father-daughter dance, ladies that are in the military, helping out on hairstyling for the makeup photoshoots and being able to join competitions too!

So much fun, I could honestly go on & on!

I’ve gone through so much to get where I’m at and I know sometimes, plans don’t go how we think they would but everything happens for a reason and I wouldn’t change it for anything.

So, if you ever think it’s too late. Trust me, it’s not! Do what you love!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It hasn’t been an easy road because, with kids, it gets a little bit hard finding someone that is willing to help you take care of them when you’re going to school full time.

Or when they get sick and have to miss school constantly, but the good thing is that you could make up your absent hours to be able to graduate.

My advice would be to pursue your dreams, it’s never too late, we just have to find the right moment to be able to start our new journey.

Please tell us about Belle By LuLu.
I am freelancing at the moment.

I specialize in both hairstyling & makeup for any occasion.

Once I get to where I want to be, I would love to specialize in Weddings/Bridal Parties.

What sets me apart from others is that when I go to a clients home for services I make them feel like their in-salon where everything is provided such things like a comfy chair, table, lighting, a backdrop where clients can take after selfies (Glitter backdrops), I provide hair accessories (which is a plus!) cause I know everyone is busy and sometimes there’s no time to shop at the very last minute. I also provide a special package called “Glamour Girl” for girls 10 & under that includes: any hairstyle/updo, light shadow & lipgloss.

A lot of my clients love this package because it’s a little bit of everything, it’s perfect for a flower girl, first communion, baptism, etc.

Also, when a client comes to my house I like for them to feel welcome just like your about to walk into a little makeup studio and not feel uncomfortable because I know, it might feel weird going to a complete stranger home and not knowing what to expect right… but let me tell you, my 2-year-old son will welcome you in with a huge smile on his face and guide you to your destination… (his playing area) where he will want you to play with him, lol.

I will then guide my clients into their seat & begin with what I do best!

Enhancing their natural beauty.

Also, not only am I building up clientele I’m building friendships too.

Another thing that sets me apart is that I like to get out of my comfort zone, meaning I have gone to middle & high schools for career day and got to inspire students by doing makeup demos & talk a little bit of what I do & what inspired me.

Also, never in a million years did I think I would make it to Finalist for Trendvision 2017 competition.

I went to L.A. & got to show my work to millions of people and got to bring back all my experiences I went through behind the scenes.

I’ve also done photoshoots & was part of Fashion Week San Diego.

Huge thank you to Andi Seaboch, Sonia & Jonathan for giving me these opportunities and pushing me to my limit!

Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
Honestly, Instagram & YouTube.

If I’m not sure of something I go look for a video or something to help me through the process.

It’s always a helpful guide for beginners as well.
