Life and Work with Maggie Hansen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maggie Hansen.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I began my career in the beauty industry as a MAC cosmetics artist fourteen years ago. During my time there, I went to school and acquired my esthetician license. When I started having kids, I broke off on my own and began to freelance as a makeup artist. I love working with women, enhancing their natural beauty, and helping them feel special for the occasion they were booking me for. After being in the industry for over ten years when I learned about Microblading I knew this was the next step in my career I wanted to pursue. I loved the effect it gave the brows and the freedom of having brows when you wake up, get out of the shower, and after working out! So, after extensive training and practice, I have now added microblading to the Dolled Up SD line up! I can’t wait to share this amazing procedure with all of you that struggle with your brows or simply just want a fuller brow.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definetly has not been a smooth road. I have four kids and building / maintaining a business and being a mother is not always easy. But slow and steady wins the race right? That is what I tell myself. And I won’t give up no matter how small progress may seem at the time. I might never be able to take on as many clients as someone with no kids but the key is to not compare yourself to others. My clients are some of the kindest women I have met and I am greatful for each one. Whatever career makes you happy work at it and don’t give up. What makes me happy is giving back self-confidence to women or simply making them feel special and loved.

Please tell us about Dolled Up SD.
I offer several services. I offer to make up artistry, including airbrush, waxing, and microblading. I am most proud of pursuing my microblading training and now working successfully in the industry. It was a scary leap but it has paid off and I love it! I think what has always set me apart is the fact that I listen to my clients. I hear their needs and wants, then find a way to enhance what they have without completely changing who they are. With microblading specifically, I work on the clients natural bone structure so the shape designed is perfect for their face. The end result is client trust which is the most important thing you can have.

Who have you been inspired by?
I have a pretty big family. And part of that family is my sister and five sisters-in-law. These women have all faced different hurtles in their lives and always found a way back up. And, we are there for each other. To lift each other up and to celebrate when we have success. I couldn’t ask for a better group of women to have as a support system.
