Today we’d like to introduce you to Raygrid Calderon.
Raygrid, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
In 2012, I started an all-female tech start-up company that aided in helping small businesses open and/or expand. We created apps, websites, algorithms and managed social media content. In late 2012, I developed an iOS app called “dreemkacher”. It was a free platform to help entrepreneurs, artists and alike to connect, hire and promote their services globally. As the company grew I found myself being hands-on with the clients and app users. I slowly became more involved in their journey as a whole. Entrepreneurs slowly but surely have a spiritual shift and transition due to lifestyle changes, sacrifices and overall changes financially and emotionally. This led for me to help a majority of the clients to practice self-care and protect their mind, body, and soul. Spirituality and its bases is something I am naturally inclined to highlight because I grew up in a very spiritual home and my mother had been actively doing spiritual readings for decades. In 2016, I decided to move on from the app and grow my tech startup. Eventually, the clients grew and therefore I became too busy to take new clients. In 2019 I decided that the perfect middle ground for everyone would be to open a spiritual space that caters to the journey of entrepreneurship. Having my mom at Spiritually Sparkled just made sense and then we became the first and only Spiritual Wellness Center in the Bronx.
Has it been a smooth road?
Many people like to date their journey from the moment they decided to follow through a purpose but really your spirit has been shifting and working you through everything you needed to begin. The road will never be smooth, you just adjust and grow through things instead of going through them.
My advice to young women will be “the time passes anyways”. Go for what you believe and desire and not what you believe will be comfortable for others or your pockets. If you find interest in something- learn more, dive in. Sometimes interests lead to new ideas and reveal new talents.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with SPIRITUALLY SPARKLED – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Most people associate me Sparkles with because of my use of the word and because Ive always created a warm but fun space in anything I do. At our center, we specialize in one’s overall being so are classes aren’t gym like or overwhelming, We cater to a community that is just learning, emerging & beginning so all of our classes are intimate, we close are center for privacy and host everything once a week. It’s kind of like we created our space as if we were helping one person at a time. We want you to learn, practice at your pace and explore on your own.
What sets us apart and what I am most proud of is that we open doors and windows to our people to explore and enrich their minds. Its been rewarding and exciting for me to see people learn about their roots and themselves and overall utilize that to help others.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
The Nancy Ruffin Show (podcast) is one of the few podcasts I listen to grab some gems and it’s been motivating for me.
I can go on forever with books but one good one that has aided in my small business journey is Raven Robinson’s A Business Owners Guide to understanding Public Relations. It’s a workbook.
