Life and Work with Tasha Land

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tasha Land.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I began doing lashes in 2010 while I was working towards a BSN to become an RN. In 2013, I opened my first lash studio, Wink Lashes, in Los Angeles. In 2016, I opened Infinit Lash Boutique in San Diego, as well as founded a professional product line, Infinit Lash Products, which is what we use at both of my lash studios. It is a line of lash goodies for other lash artists and our clients. The product line has become very successful being sold worldwide and used by elite lash artists in the business. To this day, I travel back and forth between my two businesses to work on my clients.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Starting a business is never without a few bumps in the road. There is a learning curve, especially when you go from employee to owner, and then again when you hire your own staff. Wearing so many hats can be a struggle, especially because I still work with my clients. Between managing the staff, developing the product line, and being available to clients… it’s a LOT! My advice is to utilize what is available to you for your growth. I listen to and read entrepreneurial podcasts and books to soak up as much as I can from others. The biggest piece of advice is to just start. Take one day at a time and keep building. Nothing is built overnight and if you don’t start now, you will look back after a year and wish you did. Failures are a part of growth. There are things I did start out that would be embarrassing now. You have to learn to pivot and go in a new direction sometimes because things are always changing and it is so important to adapt.

Please tell us about Infinit Lash Boutique.
I apply lash extensions and that is what my businesses solely focus on, from the service perspective and the product line, everything is focused on JUST eyelash extensions. Our eyelash extensions are known for lasting while looking authentic and realistic. There is a confidence that comes with looking ready and put together and that is what eyelash extensions provide our clients… confidence. I am most proud of the relationships I’ve grown over the last eight years. Without the wonderful women I work with and the amazing women who come to us and support our art, we wouldn’t be here. It takes a lot of work to get new clients in the door, and it takes a lot more work to keep them coming back for years. I’m so proud of my teams for their hard work and dedication to continuing their education, providing excellent customer service and for growing with me as I’ve learned how to build my businesses. What sets me apart from others is me. When a client comes in for a service, I don’t just do the service. I like to get to know them and learn about their lives. Clients will joke that I’m their therapist and mentor all in one. It’s a safe space to get beautiful while you also vent or bounce ideas back and forth. I am all about positive energy so that’s what you get when you come to me. Someone who is professional, courteous, and who has a sense of humor!

Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
Yes! I love the audible app because it allows me to listen to books on my drives back and forth to LA. Recently, I just finished listening to “Work Party” by Jaclyn Johnson which I highly recommend to any female entrepreneur. “Start with Why” by Simon Sinek is another must-read for anyone with a business. Lately, I’ve been listening to a podcast called “Raising the Bar” which is from the founders of Drybar and they interview other entrepreneurs. Outside of business related books and podcasts, I enjoy meditation apps and books that revolve around manifesting the life you want. Oprah and Deepak Chopra have a meditation app that I listen to before bed, and I’m currently reading a book called, “Manifest Now,” by Idil Ahmed. Last but not least, working out daily helps me stay clear-minded and focused.
