Today we’d like to introduce you to Desireé Salameh.
Desireé, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have always been someone that was self-motivated to have a successful career; I moved out at the age of 17 and worked two jobs from when I was 17 through college graduation. I had a successful career in Hotel Events and Hotel Event Sales, but I ended up leaving my full-time career when we moved to San Diego and I discovered I would need IVF treatments. We wanted my full focus to be starting a family (at that time, I was just hired to be a Wedding Events Manager, which is high stress).
Fast forward many years, I now have two beautiful little miracles Everly and Harlow and am a full-time stay-at-home. I never lost my desire to work. I have always been ambitious and needed that creative outlet. Something for me… that made me feel like me. One of my best friends, Brittany Vasseur, suggested that I try out Blogging/Influencing. She really coached me, helped me grow my audience and mostly encouraged me! Really in the past year is when I have started investing more time to make this more than just a hobby. Aka nap time, and when the kids sleep.
I am still what I would consider very new to this, but it is so much fun! I was always sharing deals and sales with friends; now I share it with even more friends! I have always loved “twinning” with my girls, dressing them cute and snapping pictures… and now it is something I get to do for “work”!
I share motherhood, lifestyle, sales, and affordable fashion… but mostly just real life! One of my latest blog posts gained more views than I expected as I touched on motherhood, physical and mental health postpartum. Especially during the past year, it was hard for me being stuck at home full time without our typical play dates, park visits and my mom’s time away. I think people appreciate that raw, real-life openness that I share mixed in with a pretty grid and quirky REELS. It has been such a fun journey creating Desireeandco and I still can’t believe that I’ve had the opportunity to work with amazing companies like Petunia Pickle Bottom, HYLETE, Sprouts and Tote Savvy and more!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road; it has been challenging finding the balance of being a full-time stay-at-home mom of two and find the time to try to navigate this new endeavor.
Right before the pandemic hit I was actually interviewing to go back to work full time in Hotel Event Sales… and then of course, there was a major hiring freeze. With Instagram and Blogging, it is especially hard when for a long time, there is zero income doing this. My husband has cracked many jokes at my expense over that ha! The payoff and being able to do this as a hobby, be home with my girls and slowly make it more than just a hobby has been worth it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a blogger/influencer that shares motherhood, lifestyle, affordable fashion and just real life in general. The pretty stuff, but also the messy, raw stuff! I am still in awe that, for example, you asked to interview me. I am proud of moments like this that I am here from what started out as just a little hobby! I share funny reels, sales and deals, San Diego living with my family and selling + buying a new house in this wild housing market!
