Meet Heather Felmer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Felmer.

Hi Heather, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in smalltown USA in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. I never imagined that when I met my husband in high school, I would end up moving across the country to San Diego to be a military wife. I also did not expect to fall in love with San Diego. After almost a decade and two little girls later, I wanted to get back to work for me. We were lucky enough to start the home search in 2011, when prices were still low after the 2008 crash and found our little piece of home in Southern California. Turned out, I loved the entire process and we have since purchased a couple more investment properties in Wisconsin. When it became time to find a career for me, it just made sense to jump two feet into the real estate world.

I got my real estate license and eventually joined The Dean Team with Keller Williams – San Diego North Inland office. Another agent and myself are currently working together to educate and work with military, veteran, DOD, and first responders on how they can use the VA loan and all the benefits that come with their service to be able to be homeowners. It is incredibly close to my heart that first responders and military families understand what they can achieve from what is already available to them.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Learning to balance being a working mom has been the toughest thing for me. My girls and husband had grown used to me being everything at home for them and only them. Plus, as with everyone else in 2020, my oldest went from being in school full time to virtual learning. I needed to pivot and pivot quickly to be able to give my clients and my family the time they deserve.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a compassionate realtor who really understands that a house is more than just a building. It’s a place to make memories, a place to hold love and laughter, a place that holds tears, and a sanctuary for many. My heart leans towards helping first responders and military families realize and achieve their part of the American dream by education and trying to make the process as smooth as possible. I understand the struggles and problems that can arise when one part of a duo is gone more often than at home or working with crazy schedules that they have no control over.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My husband has been my rock and supporter as we learn on the fly how to balance a growing career for me and his high demanding career as well. Of course, my biggest cheerleaders and my biggest “why” in the world are my little girls. I want to be able to show them that “Mom” doesn’t have to just be “Mom,” that women can be whatever they set their mind and heart on. My team leaders and coaches from The Dean Team have been so crucial in helping me develop as an agent, leading the way on how to be the best advocate I can be for my clients.
