Meet Yalda Yusufi-Atta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yalda Yusufi-Atta.

Hi Yalda, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born and raised in Vancouver, BC and moved to San Francisco in 2014. I have relocated to San Diego in 2017 with my husband, birds and had our firstborn daughter a few months before the pandemic occurred. I am mostly inspired by nature, architecture, photo manipulation, abstract art and animals. Outside of my corporate job, I work as a Freelance Digital Artist and Photographer. I bring my talents to businesses that are seeking a fresh and artistic approach to disseminating corporate information.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Many people would tell me to change my major and give up on design. It took a lot of sleepless nights and missing special events to get through it. I was so determined that during my first year of being a student at UCSD for the Graphic Design program, I was pregnant and continued all the way through two weeks before I gave birth. After maternity leave, I continued the program until it was completed the following year.

No amount of work will ever come easy. The passion I have always had for design stayed with me through each hardship. I am thankful to be surrounded by family and friends who have pushed me beyond my limits.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in Illustrations, Branding, Digital Marketing, Print Design, Photo Manipulation and Retouching.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
When life presents me with unexpected luck, I am aware as to what’s in front of me. I will take the opportunity when it makes sense, regardless of the current circumstances. I also do my best to pay it forward, believing that if you do good, it will come back to you in ways unimaginable. Everything happens for a reason.
