Mauricio, it’s been too long since we last connected. Thanks so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with our community again. Some readers might have missed our prior conversations, so maybe you can kick things off for us with a quick intro?
Hi, My name is Mauricio Santana a.k.a. Selloutkid40. San Diego native. I grew up in Chula Vista. Living in beautiful North Park. I paint.
How did the pandemic affect your work?
Events were cancelled because of the virus so not being able to show my work was frustrating. I don’t know if there is term for it but I got painters block. I felt drained. I was forcing myself to paint but I really wasn’t feeling it. I’m slowly getting groove back.
What do you think people get from your art?
Everyone takes away something different. My goal is to have people lose themselves in the painting and escape the real world for a minute. Losing yourself and letting your mind wander.
What does your work aim to say?
Nothing. That’s the point.
It was so great to reconnect. One last question – how can our readers connect with you, learn more or support you?
