Meet Alexander Lash of Zen Garden Productions in North County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexander Lash.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Alexander. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Together with my (now wife) Christiana Rivers and friend Patrick Mercaldo, we founded Zen Garden Productions in 2014 while studying communications media and film at John Paul the Great Catholic University. The idea was to use our talents in digital media to provide the highest quality video content for mid-size and small business/organizations. It quickly became clear that organizations of all kinds are searching for reliable, professional quality content, so that’s what we do!

We’ve had the opportunity to work with people and companies of all kinds: missionaries in the Dominican Republic and Haiti, The University of San Diego, Guinness World Record Holders, veterans, policeman, artists, disaster preparedness specialists, and real estate firms, just to name a few.!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
While it hasn’t always been a totally smooth road; lots of late nights, some technical difficulties, and unsuccessful pitches, we’ve always had fun. And we’re still growing! We love what we do and are excited for what the future brings.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Zen Garden Productions – what should we know?
We specialize in producing video content primarily for social media. Our clients recognize that they need consistent, excellent video that can compete with national companies on an affordable budget. That’s what we provide. We’re most proud of the fact that we allow medium sized businesses and organizations to get the recognition that they deserve online. It’s the close relationship that we keep with our clients that sets us apart. We get to know the ins and outs of our partners’ work; that allows us to truly tell their story.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
So much of our success is due to our alma mater, John Paul the Great Catholic University. President Derry Connolly has spent many hours offering guidance, advice, and encouragement as we grew. He also passed along many a project lead, helping us get off the ground. Part of the JPCatholic curriculum is a program called The Launchpad which is an intensive mentor-ship for students who were growing businesses. We took full advantage of that, and owe many thanks to Professor Marc Burch who continues to offer ideas, feedback and thoughts.

We owe so much to everyone who has and continues to be a part of our team; particularly Christina Corcoran who does everything from social media, to writing, to voice overs, to camera work.
