Meet Alexandra Andrews, Ph.D. of The Alexandra Institute in Point Loma

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandra Andrews, Ph.D.

Dr. Andrews, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
In my mid-twenties I finally decided to take direction in my life. I pursued college and business. A woman attorney, who was dying of cancer, showed me the work she had done with women who had addiction problems. I KNEW this was for me! In addition to continuing college and teaching at University of California San Diego, I started to build three counseling offices throughout San Diego County that eventually became self-sufficient. I was also studying parapsychology and metaphysics in San Diego and Los Angeles.

Prior to that, on a trip to the Orient I met a Chinese man who accurately read my vibrations from the English words I had written, a language he could not understand. He was able to tell me things about my past he had no way of knowing. He let me stay with his family and him, and I started studying everything I could find related to using my intuition and ESP.

After about ten years with the counseling agency, I wanted to slow down and founded the Alexandra Institute. There was immediate successes and we have been in business since then.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Every business has obstacles, and we like to think of them as Challenges to grow from. When we first started, a large group of religious people would stand outside our office, shouting at the people entering “the devil is in there and you will be going to hell”. They also disrupted our free lectures. I took legal action and they did go away. Occasionally someone will put a religious tract in our books, or paste a passage on our door before we open.

Also, some people come into the store and are skeptical about intuition and ESP. We show them the data from Duke University and other scientific information, and encourage them to trust their gut/intuition.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
The Alexandra Institute is a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization dedicated to providing information on the daily or professional use of intuition so they can enhance their life. Through our monthly free lectures, free library, classes, books, private consultations, and ESP Testing (similar to those done at Duke University), we provide an opportunity for people to explore the field of parapsychology at no cost or minimal cost.

We have international clients that include business people, doctors, attorneys, homemakers, retirees, teachers, law enforcement, working people…the whole spectrum of the world.

When other psychics have legal problems, television and radio stations interview us as the “good, reputable psychics”. Some of our clients feel that they are getting a real bargain in their readings with me, two for the price of one: psychological (because of my background) and psychic. I also stress that each of us has free will, regardless of what I see happening. I also give annual predictions and, in the beginning of 2016, I was about the only psychic in San Diego who predicted that Donald Trump would win the presidency.

What were you like growing up?
In New York, I grew up in an Italian, Roman Catholic, family. Intuition, psychic, and ESP were not discussed or acknowledged. When I was eight years old, I was focused on a lake and trees near my grandfather’s farm, and I just KNEW that there was a lot more to life than what I was exposed to and supposed to do. I did not know what to do with these feelings until my twenties.

When I was twelve, I was sitting on the side of a mountain and looking at the sun on the other mountains over the valley and just KNEW for sure that this life will not be the only life I have or will experienced. When I studied World Religions and other topics, I found that many other people have had or experienced this belief/feeling: Socrates, Mark Twain, Thomas Edison, and Carl Jung to name a few.

My family did not support my viewpoints, and it was not until I founded the Institute that my mother, who questioned my beliefs, went to a priest who gave her permission to be/work with me at the Alexandra Institute because I was helping other people. Other family members feel that I am on the wrong side of life; they do not acknowledge “spirituality”.
