Meet Aliza Cicerone of Spark Health

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aliza Cicerone.

Aliza, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have always been fascinated by the human body and knew at a young age that I wanted to pursue a career in medicine. Before I became aware of the benefits of naturopathic medicine, I had been planning on following a traditional path in conventional medicine.

I was first introduced to naturopathic medicine as a patient in my early 20’s after I was diagnosed with Crohns disease. After receiving many different conventional treatments that did not helpfully resolve my symptoms or help me with a plan for prevention, I started working with a naturopathic doctor. This experience was eye-opening for me and showed me a type of medicine that I didn’t even know I had been searching for. I felt that all aspects of my health were addressed, both physically and emotionally, and that my doctor understood me as a whole person instead of just a diagnosis or condition. I was re-inspired about what the medical field had to offer and started my journey as a medical student at the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon.

After completing my residency at Indiana University Goshen Center for Cancer Care and a fellowship at Cancer Treatment Centers of America, I moved back to California. Spark Health was developed to provide truly personalized medicine to address each individual’s unique needs with superior quality of both medical care and customer service.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Yes, fortunately, it has been a very smooth road, and our growth as a company has exceeded our expectations. We have had an outpouring of support from patients from the beginning, and they are our number one source for referrals.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Spark Health is a full scope medical clinic that specializes in functional and integrative medicine. We are different from most other clinics across the country because we offer a truly personalized and customized approach to diagnosing and treating our patients. Not only is our medicine tailored to each patient’s distinctive needs, but we deliver an elevated customer service experience. Our process is very thorough and treats the whole person through a combination of medication, supplementation, nutrition, lifestyle modification, and IV therapy.

We treat all ages and health conditions: from pediatrics and family health to patients undergoing treatment for cancer, and everything in between. Some common issues that patients seek our expertise for are: digestive disorders (Crohns, colitis, SIBO), hormone imbalances, high cholesterol, and blood pressure, diabetes, and thyroid disorders.

We focus heavily on prevention and optimal health, and patients love our PRP Micro Needling Facial for age management. This treatment uses the healing power of platelets and growth factors from a patient’s own blood to stimulate new collagen growth. This promotes new blood vessels, repairs and regenerates damaged skin, and helps slow and reverse the signs of aging.

Our vitamin IVs and injections are also very popular. We have the largest selection of the most nutrient dense IVs and injections in San Diego County, and we have a beautiful, relaxing IV lounge for treatments.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
We treat every patient as a unique individual and spend time with our patients to fully understand who they are as a person. This allows us to develop very strong and trusting relationships with our patients, who know that we care for them as if they are family.

A huge focus of ours is to enable people of all ages and demographics to experience the benefits of naturopathic and functional medicine by keeping the cost of visits and treatments affordable and sustainable. Patients receive excellent medical care along with a great customer service experience.

  • Average patient appointment: $125-250
