Meet Dre Dee of Darkside Fitness in Oceanside

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dre Dee.

Dre Dee, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I began taking pole dancing classes at a studio in 2010. I started performing at showcases and then teaching. I wanted to expand the pole community in San Diego and opened Darkside in July 2015. I have a Masters Degree in Health Sciences and a strong background in healthcare and fitness and enjoy lots of types of fitness. I have also been an occupational therapist since 2006 and yoga instructor and I love to incorporate my therapy and training techniques into my classes in new and creative ways.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. I had a potential investor who backed out of funding my startup money so had to fund the business myself. I had equipment issues and several difficult situations I had to work through the first couple years. I don’t have an education in business so had to learn a lot on my own.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Darkside Fitness – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.

We encourage and welcome all levels of fitness and love working with beginners and helping people feel sexy and confident.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I have lived all over the country – I actually traveled around the US and lived in Illinois, Georgia, Florida, Pennsylvania, and Arizona before making my way out to San Diego. I love the beach vibe, the laid back lifestyle, the weather and all the local events. I wish some of the people were less f0cuse on money and materialistic things, but otherwise I love this city!
