Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Kuchan.
Hi Andrew, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started drawing as a kid after seeing my brother’s doodles all over his notebooks from school. Ever since then, I always knew I wanted to be an artist of some kind. I grew to love tattoos and the culture and started to focus my drawings to emulate the kind of art I was influenced by. Many years later, I reached a point where it was now or never to pursue that dream. After finishing my apprenticeship, I went on to work on my own continuing to learn and grow as an artist. After about a year of working on my own, I was given a great opportunity to work at Guru Tattoo which has been one of the greatest things to happen to me since starting my journey.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would say it has definitely had its ups and downs. But I believe anything in life worth having doesn’t come easy.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I do black and grey tattoos focusing on fine line, realism and black work style of tattooing.
Any big plans?
To keep learning and growing as an artist. I am looking forward to traveling and seeing the world along with other artists while being able to tattoo in places I would never had thought to be in a few years back.
