Meet Ari Tenenbaum of Revolution Landscape

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ari Tenenbaum.

Ari, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Revolution Landscape was founded in 2008. With increased interest in sustainable practices and local food, the idea quickly evolved into an exciting company with a new way of looking at health, society, and the environment. Our company reaches far beyond the bottom line, just as our landscapes involve much more than the aesthetics of the plants. Through our commitment to sustainability, our goal is to have a positive and lasting impact within our community.

My business partner, Jeff Robbins and I grew up in San Diego surfing and playing water polo together. In 2008, finding themselves back in San Diego, they decided to launch Revolution Landscape. Today, I have a degree in landscape architecture and head up our design department. Jeff is a licensed landscape contractor and manages our project installations. Our company blossomed into a full-service landscape design+build company that is dedicated to providing highly personalized service creating unique and sustainable outdoor environments.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
All business can be cyclical and we have certainly experienced our ups and downs. With that said by keeping our company small and staying true to our core mission, Jeff and I have been able to navigate the challenges of founding and running a small business.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Revolution Landscape – what should we know?
We specialize in the design and installation of sustainable and one-of-a-kind landscapes and gardens. Many of our projects have a strong emphasis on edibles (ie. veggie gardens, fruit trees, etc.) We also like using California native plants and other drought tolerant species. One of our projects was recently featured on the front page of San Diego Union-Tribune and I we are very proud of that. We are also very proud of our positive client testimonials on online review platforms like Yelp, Houzz, and Google.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My partner, Jeff has been critical. Also, my family has always been really supportive and encouraging so that has been huge, especially when we were first starting out. Other than that our clients are amazing people who put a high level of trust in us and nothing makes us happier than when our clients tell us how much they are enjoying their yard or the new birds they are seeing visit after we have done an installation.

  • On-Site Design Consultation is typical $100 fee
  • Designs start at $3,000
  • Landscape installations typically start around $50K
