Check out Baby Tula

Today, we’d like to introduce you to folks from Baby Tula. Baby Tula was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Kirk Hensler.

Thank you so much for joining us today. We’d love for you to bring our readers up to speed – can you introduce yourself and share your story?
From 1 mom to thousands of families, Baby Tula has always been about the desire to create something that’s more than just a tool for new families. We set out to support the emotional, social, and physical well-being of parents and babies. That means creating more than just the parts and pieces that make a baby carrier. We craft every detail of our carriers to not only give you free hands but provide you with opportunities to thrive and experience joy.

The founders of the company, Ula and Mike, were a young couple with an insatiable travel bug that took them all over the world. While sitting in a café in Buenos Aires with a huge appetite for comfort food, Ula realized that their family of two would be growing. 🙂

Adding their daughter as a travel companion, they experienced how convenient babywearing was and learned how much it benefits both parent and baby. A few years later, their son was born and the need for the perfect carrier grew. Ula and Mike tried many different carriers and never found one that completely satisfied them, so they had their Ba Noi (Vietnamese for Grandma) sew one to their specifications. It was close to perfect in so many ways.

They quickly went from making carriers for friends and family to then expanding to a grassroots community of enthusiastic babywearing parents. People seemed to fall in love with how comfortable our carriers were for long periods of carrying and our distinct prints. We understood that parents wanted a carrier that expressed a little bit about their personal style or passions, as well as, be durable and provide high-quality comfort.

Since 2009, Baby Tula has blossomed into a global brand working towards connecting and empowering families of all kinds throughout their individual parenting journeys.

Please tell us more about your brand, Baby Tula. What else should we know?
From the beginning, we have tried to infuse personality into everything we offer. One of the most obvious ways is in the types of prints we offer. From minimalist to over-the-top fun, we frequently release our carriers and blankets, in small batches, to allow there to always be a variety of options. But, we try and do more than just offer a lot of prints. We really take pride in the personalized touch we use in crafting our products, the design collaborations within our Signature collection, and even how we bring our costumers together. Everything is done with lots of love and care! That translates into a carrier brand that not only helps you hold your baby, but a brand that cares about your ability to express yourself, fostering community, and helping you embrace your own journey as a parent. One other element to note about Baby Tula is that we offer carrier options that go beyond the first few months of baby’s life. We make carriers that can hold your child as they grow even into early preschool age. This is an incredible asset, in particular, for children with special needs. But, a carrier comes in handy in so many scenarios even after baby has begun to crawl or walk.

Kirk Hensler and HALE PRODUCTION STUDIOS have been great to us and I know you’ve got a great relationship with them as well. Maybe you can tell our audience a bit about Kirk Hensler and HALE PRODUCTION STUDIOS and your experience with them.
We have been working with Kirk and his fabulous team at Hale Production Studios for a few years now and we are so happy with what we have been able to create together. At Baby Tula, we have frequent product releases that require creative content to be shared on our website, multiple social platforms, email, and occasionally packaging. We are able to confidently come back to Hale Production Studios to meet most of our content needs.

We plan multiple full day and half day shoots with Hale throughout the year. In advance of the shoot, we will work with Kirk and his team to communicate our goals for the shoot and confirm the schedule and set up. The team at Hale makes this very efficient as they ask all of the essential questions and organize many of the shoot logistics internally.

A typical full day shoot will include multiple set ups for lifestyle photography and videography, product photography with a studio backdrop, and occasional outdoor or flat lay photography. Hale can uniquely provide dynamic shoots like this because of the large space that includes furniture and other props for staging. I also think their highly skilled team is great at managing the flow for the day and preparing each set up for multiple rounds of models. As a baby carrier brand, our models are real families with smaller infants. One additional bonus of their studio is that is also provides a welcoming area for our models to wait.

During these shoots, Kirk and his team are also able to provide photography to review while it is being shot. This ensures that our shoots are successful in providing a lot of vibrant imagery for our products. After the shoot, Hale is able to quickly deliver a large library of images and short videos (in multiple formats) that are ready to be utilized.
