Meet Bea Prescilla Sharp

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bea Prescilla Sharp.

Bea Prescilla, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started in the wedding planning industry in Indianapolis, Indiana. I’ve always known I wanted to be a wedding planner; however, back then in the mid-2000s, there weren’t any courses to help with that. While I was getting my Bachelor of Science Degree from Purdue University, I took classes to get my Event Management Certification from Indiana University. I interned and participated in planning all kinds of events from weddings to trade shows, corporate meeting planning, non-profits, galas, and more. My passion was in wedding planning, so I did everything I could to immerse myself in the wedding industry in Indianapolis. I was fortunate to plan and be a part of several weddings and events all over the city. Once I graduated college in 2010, I married the love of my life! Planning our wedding was even more of a confirmation that I wanted to pursue a career in event planning. His naval career took us to Oahu, Hawaii. Once we moved there, I almost immediately started working as a wedding planner for a company that allowed me to plan and be a part of weddings and events all over the island! A few years later in 2013, we moved to San Diego and this is where I started Occasions by Bea Prescilla. Since then I’ve been fortunate to continue doing what I love in this beautiful city all while being a mom to three beautiful children!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It definitely wasn’t always a smooth road. The biggest struggle I had was juggling my work-life balance as a military wife. For several years my husband was gone A LOT. That made it hard for me to juggle being a full time mom to my infant to toddler-aged children alone -all while running a business. Now that my husband is home more and my children are older (now 6, 4, and 2-years-old), I’m able to focus on my business and give my clients the standard of service I’ve always strived to give!

Tell us about your company. What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of as a company? What sets you apart from others?
Occasions by Bea Prescilla is a wedding and event planning company. Our goal is to have our clients be treated as a guest to their own party. It’s our commitment to them that we create, plan and execute a beautiful and lavish event that is tailored to their unique style, personality, and budget. We offer only the highest level of creative, personalized service by referring our clients to the most reliable vendors in the industry. We help guide them through the planning process with our expertise in coordination and event design. Since most of my events are weddings, I let my couples know that I not only want to be their wedding planner but a friend for them to lean on as they plan one of the most important days of their lives! The one thing I’m most proud of as a company is a styled shoot I coordinated and styled that was featured on the cover of Ceremony Magazine! It was an over-the-top king’s table for 24 people at the Crystal Ballroom at the iconic US Grant Hotel downtown San Diego. It was the day I felt my wedding planning dreams come true! It’s something I’ll always be proud of!

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plan for the future is to open a beautiful office space in San Diego  to meet with clients and attend more wedding conferences and networking events in Southern California. One of my other passions and side hustles in life is makeup artistry, so I have been in the works of growing, “Sharp Bea-uty,” in my local community. One thing I’m looking forward to are the weddings and events already booked for the next couple of years as well as more styled shoots in the making! It’s going to be a whirlwind of a year next year, and I hope to have the honor of getting my work published in more wedding magazines and blogs!
