Meet Bobby Thongkham of CvshXnly

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bobby Thongkham.

Born Bobby Thongkham, I earned the Moniker “CVSHXNLY.” Self-taught Cinematographer from National City, San Diego, CA. He was born in a refugee camp in the country of Thailand during the Vietnam war after his family fled the War-torn country of Laos.

As a refugee in the United States his background was in Social Work helping his community. Cvshxnly would teach himself on how to film music videos and the art of photography. His passion for the art grew, and the fire within him kept on building.

Cvshxnly would stay up late nights directing music videos, editing, and spending hours in the studio. Sometimes sacrificing sleep in order to pursue his passion while working a 9-5. Job.

After years of working a Job and creating his art on the side, Cvshxnly finally made a decision to pursue his passion and go after his dreams. He quit his Social Work job with the county and spent all his time creating and pursuing his dreams.

After years of doing free work for other artists, he is finally in a position to further his career in the film industry. I established “Eye Create Different” as a media company covering author interview videos, Documentaries, promo videos, and Travel.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Definitely not a smooth road, a lot of different routes, U-turns, Dead ends, and stop signs, but every time I decided I wouldn’t quit.

We’d love to hear more about what you do.
I am a Cinematographer/Photographer. My company develops marketing videos to promote a wide arrange of different businesses. I specialize in directing music videos.

I am most proud of my the time I spend giving back to my community and helping the troubled youth. I volunteer my free time as a youth care counselor.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My parents play a huge part as they are my number one supporters. Also, my brothers have always helped me with their time and support whenever I needed. Josef Villarama always assisted me on different shoots; he was always there in the beginning when I needed help with anything.

Christian Llerena and Art Nerida would always be there to support me when I needed it. Aiman Usman from Okir Publishing saw something in my work and believed in me enough to invest in my career. I will always be grateful for these individuals.
