Today we’d like to introduce you to Radovan Borovic.
Radovan, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I first started out in 2014, in a small room in Hillcrest, I had a breakthrough while I was trying to find a job. I thought to myself “What if I become my own boss and manage my own business?” I stayed up each night looking for solutions, Names, logos, concepts etc… One day, I had come up with the solution. I had already had experience with fixing appliances like microwaves, ovens, dishwashers and refrigerators. I wanted to have an acronym of what my business was all about: Best Repair. So after all those sleepless nights I came up with BR Appliance Service, or Best Repair Appliance Service. It was incredibly tough to spend thousands of dollars on appliances, gas and drive my minivan around town each and every day, but it paid off. Each customer had a story, a journey, and I bonded with a lot of them. I always believed that the customer always comes first, and there should be a balance between hefty prices and satisfied consumers. That’s why I’m still a one man show to this day, with only the help of a few assistants who do most of the online work when I’m out on a job.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part, starting this business has been a smooth road. There were some very rowdy and challenging customers, but that’s some of the downsides when being a businessman. I also had some dry seasons without many customers, but the more exposure I get, the more likely it is for me to get customers any time of day, week, month or year.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about BR Appliance Service – what should we know?
I am an appliance repairman. I specialize in fixing appliances while still being able to give a fair price. I think the thing that sets me apart from others is that I’m one guy, I have one vehicle that I use and one small factory where I keep all my parts, invoices and tools. I try to give the best prices I can for the service I offer, and I pour my heart and soul into everything I do as an independent businessman.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I think the best quality that got me to where I am is my skills when I market my service, my unique personality and my ability to work fast and efficient. Those three are all factors as to how I succeed and continue to grow and improve with each appliance fixed.
