Meet Bri Grajkowski of BriGeeski

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bri Grajkowski.

Bri, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I went to San Diego State University and received a degree in graphic design. While I was there I did freelance design work and worked as an intern for a few agencies. I was hired full time as an in-house graphic designer and marketing specialist at a biotech company after I finished school.

I continued to work with a few of my freelance clients along the way. I worked for the biotech company for about 3.5 years before having my first kiddo. When she was one month old, I was laid off and wasn’t sure what to do. I had always dreamed of starting my own business and working from home. The layoff and having a baby gave me the push I needed to create my own business. I started by working with my design clients more and looking for new clients.

I attended a lot of events and did as much online and in person networking as I could. I started an Etsy shop with printable invitations of my designs. I worked more on turning my creative outlet (my blog) into another source of income. I now work with a handful of regular design clients and sponsors for creating content on the BriGeeski food & lifestyle blog.

Has it been a smooth road?
There have been plenty of struggles along the way. Figuring out how to be a mom while figuring out how to be a business owner and manage my time has created the most struggles. In turn, it is also what pushes me to find ways of making it work. I’ve struggled with the logistics of running a business as well. I am a super creative person so dealing with finances, paperwork and contracts has been a learning curve but it is all part of the process.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with BriGeeski – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love that the food scene has blossomed over the last few years and that there are so many fun spots to enjoy with friends! The beach views don’t get old either! If I could change anything about the city, I would add more trolley stations to the suburbs.
