Meet Brian Bowersock of West Automotive Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Bowersock.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Brian. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
1993
After 5 years in the Navy, Brian worked at an independent repair shop for a year until he took over a failing auto repair shop, buying all the equipment with the little savings he had. He then turned the shop around and made it into West Escondido Automotive & Transmission.

1997
After four years, Brian moved the West Escondido shop to the 10,000 square foot location they’re currently in.

2006
Brian’s extensive experience has helped him become an authority in the automotive industry, especially in the San Diego area. The highly recognized Ask the Auto Man television segment runs on San Diego Channel 6, the CW every Friday at 9:00 a.m.

2011
Brian’s popular talk show – Auto Talk Radio – starts to air on 760 KFMB on Saturday mornings from 7 – 8 a.m.

2015
West Automotive Group opened up a second location in El Cajon to better serve San Diego County.

2017
Now, 24 years later, West Automotive Group opened a 3rd location in Kearny Mesa and continues to provide excellent customer service and quality repairs

Has it been a smooth road?
Business always has its struggles, some good, some not so good, all of these experiences are what mold the owner or managers and the company creating the culture of the company.

Some of the struggles included finding the best quality employees to surround yourself with to create the highest quality and culture for your company.

Working through Growing pains as you add employees and create policies and procedures to make sure customers’ have an awesome experience.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the West Automotive Group story. Tell us more about the business.
West Automotive Group Consist of three locations at this time, West Escondido Automotive & Transmission, West El Cajon Automotive & Transmission and West Kearny Mesa Automotive & Transmission.

The West Automotive Group is an AAA Approved dealer ship alternative that prides it’s self on only hiring Master Certified ASE Technicians, We do not employ any B or C level Technicians every vehicle is serviced or repaired by a Master Technician. In doing so we believe our customers and their vehicles deserve a Master Technician working on their vehicle weather it is a simple oil change, Major repair, Diagnosis or a Transmission repair.

The West Automotive Group backs all of its services and repairs with some of the longest nationwide warranties.

We believe the quality and care we put into servicing, diagnosing and repairing our customer’s vehicles along with the customer service experience is what sets us apart from all other Independent and Dealer service departments.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The Industry has been shifting rapidly to a highly Technical Position, The smaller non trained facilities will struggle more and more if they not keeping up with the Information and training for their technicians. This has become costly with the rapid change of equipment and information and is not fusible for smaller facilities. Equipment is always changing and if a facility does not have access to the expensive equipment needed to properly diagnosis vehicles these days.

Larger facilities will be the only option for customers if they would like their vehicles fixed or repaired properly in the future.
