Today we’d like to introduce you to Brooke Leverone.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My mom always strove to instill healthy habits in me growing, so when I learned of Naturopathic Medicine it was an obvious path for me. I remember opening the health book in 4th grade and learning about the human body for the first time. I was absolutely obsessed. I knew right then and there I would go into the health field.
I obtained my Pre-Med from UCSD, however by the time I graduated I had become somewhat disenchanted with the traditional medical model. So I decided to take some time off to travel, do volunteer work, and figure out what path I wanted to take. During that time, I came across Naturopathic Medicine. After some investigation into this world of medicine, I had never heard of, I realized this medicine aligned exactly with my understanding of health and wellness. I applied the following quarter to Bastyr University in Seattle, WA. and started my first classes the next fall.
After graduating I completed a 2-year residency in women’s health and functional medicine. I eventually moved back to my hometown of San Diego where I worked at a couple local clinics. Then one day, I was approached by a company seeking to bring a wellness center to La Jolla. Over 2 years later we are now thriving and continuing to expand. I also teach courses in hormone therapy and genetic interpretation which I love to do.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
What is the opposite of smooth?! Seriously the least smooth you can get! Going through medical school pushes you to limits you didn’t know you had. The good side is it helps you learn about yourself and what you are capable of.
The hardest parts for me have been the business aspect. When you are in med school, you don’t really get a business education, and you don’t fully realize how much of running a medical practice involves running a business too.
Starting out on my own I was scrambling to pay the bills. In my early years, I was waiting tables at night to get by. Eventually, I started to get the hang of it and didn’t’ need a second job to get by. I’m so grateful today to be able to work with a team to help manage the business side of things.
We’d love to hear more about your business.

We strive to provide the best in health care and customer service.
What were you like growing up?
I was a bit of a troublemaker growing up. I was always getting sent to the principles office for talking class. Haha. I’m still a bit of a talker. I was also a bit of a tomboy. I was always dirty and liked playing rough. I also love to make crafts and draw, that was a favorite past time. I’ve always been super outgoing and loved being around people.
