Hi Candace, thank you so much for sitting down with us again. For folks who might have missed our initial interview, can you start by briefly introducing yourself?
I am a licensed Esthetician and Lash Artist of 8 years. Originally from San Diego, my husband I moved to Los Angeles in 2018 to further our ambitions of growing Tenderoni Lashes, our lash studio based in West Hollywood.
We’ve always admired that you are very purpose driven. Can you talk to us about the purpose driving your business?
As a lash artist, I use my artistry as a means to make someone’s day brighter. My job isn’t to make people beautiful, but rather show them just how beautiful they already are, inside and out. If you’ve had eyelash extensions before, chances are, you had a therapy session in some shape or form. You’d be surprised at how much a couple hours of lashing someone can mean to some people. There’s just something so right about letting your hair down, and striking up a fun conversation (or napping) while getting beautified.
Did you know that for many, salons are the only therapy they can afford?
What do you love most about your business?
I love everything about Tenderoni Lashes: I love the casual atmosphere, the people I work with, connecting with clients. It is a blessing to work alongside other artists who are passionate about their craft and exhibit so much pride in the services they provide. We laugh, we celebrate, we vent, we joke, talk shit. Our studio is whatever you need it to be for the appointment. We do more than lashes here.
What separates your business from others in your area?
We don’t ghost our clients if they have any problems with their lashes here. With us, you’re family, so we’re going to give you your money’s worth and make sure your lashes are well intact. To ensure quality control, we offer all of our clients one, complimentary touch up or correction appointment that they may use within 7 days of their application. This is something not many, if any, lash studios in Los Angeles offer. We truly go above and beyond for our clients.
How has the pandemic affected your business?
Months of immediate closure were devastating for not just myself, but an entire industry of professionals who make a living touching people for a living. I am thankful to have an incredible support system in my husband, my colleagues, family, friends and clients. The pandemic made Tenderoni Lashes even stronger than it was before. We became more resilient and resourceful than we ever have in our lives.
What advice do you have for someone who wants to be a lash artist?
My best piece of advice: get licensed before you get certified. When you get your education and training from an accredited beauty school, you will not only learn foundational knowledge, you will also learn safety practices. Without proper disinfection and sanitization training, disease can spread and cause an outbreak among your clientele. Its always best to be safe, plus its the law.
Thank you so much again for sharing all of this with us. Before we go, can you share with our readers how they can connect with you, learn more or show support?
