Thanks for sharing your story with us Chantal. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have always been interested in alternative forms of healing since I was a teenager. Growing up watching my family members age and be prescribed ridiculous amounts of pharmaceuticals but never educated on proper diet and lifestyle led me to Chinese Medicine. While in the master’s program for Chinese Medicine, I became a licensed massage therapist. This got my hands on lots of people and truly helped me to understand the body and get in touch with the gift that my hands and intuition hold.
Initially, I thought I would work with pain management as that was the vast majority of what I saw in the clinic. I became a licensed acupuncturist and a new mom quickly after that and my interest in women’s health grew as did the patients who sought me out for those reasons. I’ve since have at least 1000 hours of education specifically in the area of fertility, prenatal and postpartum care. I’ve helped many women conceive and have smooth pregnancies over the years. This is where my passion lies.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Of course becoming a new mother and being a practitioner at the start of her career was a struggle. Just when I started to get the hang of it, my second son came along. Now that they are in school full time, I am able to put my energy more fully towards my practice.
Free Flow Health Acupuncture – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a Chinese Medicine Practitioner. Acupuncture is just part of what I do in my clinic. I also give nutrition and lifestyle consults as well as prescribe herbal formulas. The majority of my patients come to me for help with conceiving, pregnancy and postpartum support.
I’m very proud of the knowledge and skills that I have developed over the years. I am always looking to grow my knowledge and provide my patients with the best possible care. I feel what I offer is very complete and encompasses the person as a whole.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I personally define success in my clinic by how my patient feels when they leave and most importantly what they take with them in terms of changes that need to be made in order for healing to occur.
