Meet Cherrymae Saldivar of Cher Lenor in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cherrymae Saldivar.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Cherrymae. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Hi, my name is Cherrymae Saldivar. Founder of Cher Lenor. Cher Lenor is a faith-based brand that committed 40% of all proceeds to help feed the homeless community in Southern California. I was born and raised in San Diego, CA where I witnessed the need within my own community. Helping the homeless was something that has always been so important to me.

In 2016, I started a fashion and lifestyle blog www.cherrymaes.org where I was able to connect with so many individuals by sharing my sense of style, fashion tips, stories of everyday struggles, dealing with depression, heartbreaks, my faith, etc. With my blog, I shared my journey and was able to inspire and share words of encouragement, which was my main reason to why I started blogging.

During the winter of 2016, I shared my vision of helping the homeless community on Instagram and Facebook where I asked for donations of unwanted winter clothes (example: sweaters, jackets, socks, etc.). I received over 600 items where I was able to wrap each item as Christmas presents to distribute to the homeless community in San Diego. I definitely couldn’t have completed this mission without the help of my family, friends, and followers! My goal with the donations was to wrap each item as a Christmas gift and hand them out to the homeless on Christmas day.

“Everyone deserves to have a Christmas”. I felt everyone deserved to experience opening gifts on Christmas day and with the number of donations I received, the mission was successful. I can’t even begin to explain the amount of gratitude, happiness, and joy I saw that Christmas day when gifts were distributed. From little kids jumping with excitement to older men and women saying it’s been a while since they even had a Christmas, to families looking at their children saying “they’re having a Christmas after all”; it was a life changing experience that helped my vision with Cher Lenor.

I’ve always had a passion for fashion. I also knew to share words of encouragement and inspiring others was a gift I loved to do. I wanted to share a sense of hope when all hope was gone, thus, Cher Lenor is not just a brand or an online boutique but a mission to bring the community together and unite as one by helping those in need. I committed to donating 40% of Cher Lenor’s proceeds to help feed the homeless.

My goal is to bring a sense of a community in the fashion industry and be a brand with a purpose. As the mission with Cher Lenor continues to spread, I hope to not only help the homeless community in San Diego but to eventually help different cities around the world.

Has it been a smooth road?
Finding the right people to work with has been somewhat of a challenge. Also, I still work full time, so being able to handle everything at once like manage and write for the blog, manage all aspects to Cher Lenor while working 40 hours a week, can get overwhelming. It’s been a crazy journey but I wouldn’t trade it for anything!

I have a lot I want to do with Cher Lenor so staying focused, determined, and organized is key right now! It definitely hasn’t been a smooth ride and I’m sure I’ll continue to face obstacles throughout this journey, but staying positive, having faith, and reminding myself why I started Cher Lenor is what’s motivating me to push through.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
“Give and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” – Luke 6:38

Cher Lenor is a faith-based brand dedicated to inspire and create with the latest fashion trends. Our mission is to bring the community together and be united as one. Our goal is to not just be a brand but a mission to share love, positivity, and encouragement.

When you shop Cher Lenor 40% of the proceeds will be donated to help feed the homeless. We want to bless others who may not have the means to afford fresh hot meals for themselves and/or their families. We want to unite the community as one and help eliminate starvation within our own community. As we strive to grow and share our mission, we hope to help different communities around the world.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes, I definitely feel like San Diego is a great city to start any type of business. There are so many creative, passionate, and determined entrepreneurs that you can connect with.

It’s all about networking and putting a face to the name/brand. San Diego has so much to offer and provides amazing opportunities where you can meet and network with other similar businesses (big or small!).
