Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Robinson.
Christopher, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am 45. My father was from Kentucky, a Vietnam vet who re-enlisted in the air force after the war and got stationed in Europe. He met my mom in Greece, had me and my 2 sisters and raised us around Europe but mainly in Greece. We were raised loving both America and Greece.
I love sports, travel, music and dance. I was also an athlete in the 2004 Olympic Games.
Fast forward to the mid-90’s, I am in College in Greece and working summers in Santorini. Any job I could get, hotels, rental car agencies and restaurants. I was around happy travelers all the time which sparked my interest and passion for the travel industry.
In the late 90’s, I landed a great job with a UK travel giant called: Thompson (or known as TUI) as a contractors assistant which meant negotiating hotel rates on the Greek islands for the UK market.
After years of working in the travel industry for the UK whilst living in Greece, I gained invaluable experience in negotiating, marketing and sales. It allowed me to travel extensively around the world and fueled my passion for that industry.
In 2011, the English company I worked for gave me the choice of working remotely. I took this opportunity and moved to the states. The journey to the USA opened my eyes to all the endless possibilities this country provides. I felt like I was in the mecca of new entrepreneurs.
One of my dreams was to find a cool idea in the States and bring in back to Greece. An idea was exactly what I found in 2016.
Greece has had wedding registries for a long time but in an old-fashioned manner. A couple would go to a local shop, pick items they wanted and tell all their guests. The guests would then have to drive to that store (or go by donkey if they lived on an island) and buy one of the items on the couples list.
I then decided I wanted to give Greeks the opportunity to pay for a couples items online rather than drive to the store and that is when I started my journey to making this business.
I wanted to weave my travel experience into the wedding registry philosophy and make Greece’s very first Honeymoon Wedding Registry.
The strategy was simple, use the American companies that are already doing this business as models and start building away. As I was dissecting these American companies, I realized some of their faults. They were great crowdfunding companies but were forcing couples to go away and research information for their honeymoon.
That is when I decided to open my idea to the American market and offer couples the opportunity to have a crowdfunding platform, travel information and booking capabilities, all in one site. I have also had quite a few people just go to my website for ideas since I have uploaded hundreds of tours worldwide.
14 months later, I have 90% completed my project. I have my license and am ready to offer it to all San Diegans getting married.
I have my very first booth on the 29th of April at the Bridal Bazaar Del Mar Fairgrounds. I am so excited for this new venture in my life and am so happy to not have let this idea just fade away. The least amount of regrets in life, the better I always say.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. My struggles were mainly economic and getting my vision applied correctly onto my site.
All this so that I could save money and not have to call someone every time, I wanted something changed.
I have devoted my life to this project as I have left my English job of many years to complete it.

My company is a honeymoon gift registry and an awesome travel guide plus booking engine.
I pride myself on having all this on one site. This is what sets me apart from my competition as well as integrating Facebook into the process.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Realizing through feedback that I have a unique idea and providing a small country like Greece a new process of gift giving.
