Today we’d like to introduce you to Ciera Henry.
Hi Ciera, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It starts with a dream… When I was about 12, I started going to the hair salon with my sister every other week. Our stylist’s name was Toni. I thought she was a hair, God. Lol, I saw how she would make people happy by just making them feel beautiful. I wanted to make that happen to. Now, I am a hairstylist to the people—just a young girl from NEW Orleans living her dream.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As an up-and-coming stylist, you will always have a bumpy road. When I first started out professionally, it was extremely hard because life events started to affect my creativity. I then realized as a hairstylist. You are the outlet for others going through a lot. So understanding that, I know my problems were just a mustard seed compared to my clients. I didn’t worry anymore; I just started to enjoy the adventures of life.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
When it comes to hair, I specialize in Locs, but I don’t stop there. You can call me an all-around stylish. I am well versed in all styles. I’m most proud of my growth in this industry, I have worked with many different artists, photographers, and my work has made it in several magazines. The one thing that sets me apart from others is my spirit. My inner soul is pure, and I understand the feeling of becoming a new you. Every time you sit in my chair, I bring the new you.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
When it comes to the city and my surroundings in this hair industry… There will always be something you like and don’t like. That’s not my focus. I learn to channel my energy and focus on my clients.
