Ciera, it’s been too long since we last connected. Thanks so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with our community again. Some readers might have missed our prior conversations, so maybe you can kick things off for us with a quick intro?
Hello everyone! My name is Ciera Vida and I am an artist that currently creates stickers and tattoo designs. I occasionally get commissioned to create other artwork as well, such as paintings.
Why did you decide on a career as an artist?
I remember when I was really young, I wanted to be an artist. But I always thought it was going to be hard to achieve. In my head artists were only famous painters like Van Gogh. Growing up, you start to realize art is all around us. I could be a photographer or product designer. Ultimately, I decided on being a tattoo artist. It’s a slow start but I have to remember I’m only in my twenties and the finish line isn’t tomorrow.
Who or what are your biggest influences?
Much of the art I make is influenced by nature. I like to incorporate flowers or stars in most pieces. I like to find the beauty in the world around us. Even the simplest of things, like the sun and moon inspire me to create.
What is your favorite part about what you do?
I love hearing what people think about the art I make them. It means a lot to me if I can make someone happy by drawing them a design. It’s still crazy to me that there are people walking around this world with my artwork tattooed on them.
How do you work? When do you feel most creative?
I’ve recently started to do artwork on my iPad. I like how everything is so clean and precise. When I am painting, my workspace is on the floor in the living room. I’ve tried painting at a desk but that doesn’t work for me. I need room to spread out. I get spontaneous bursts of creativity. I can go days without making any art, then suddenly get the urge to create.
It was so great to reconnect. One last question – how can our readers connect with you, learn more or support you?
