Meet Cindy Cate of Hello Birdie Nail & Lash Lab in North Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cindy Cate.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My introduction into the beauty industry was by way of managing a hair salon called The Lab a Salon owned by my dear friend Adrianne Tolentino. I found the beauty industry to be fun, fast-paced and full of passion and creativity. In my years of experience managing The Lab, I recognized a need for business minded professionals in the industry and knew this would be a good direction for me. Simultaneously I had also been to local nail salons and left with more to be desired in terms of customer service, cleanliness and awareness of current nail fashion trends. With unlimited access to the amazing world of nail art on social media and press, why was it so difficult to get anything beyond your 5 dot flower?

And so, the vision of Hello Birdie formed. I was to open a nail & lash salon with an emphasis on high quality work in a clean and friendly environment. As a musician and a creative individual, myself, I was delighted to have found an industry where I could use my business mind and support a creative community at the same time.

Has it been a smooth road?
After just over two years, the biggest reason for our success can be attributed to our employees. Growing at such a fast pace, I quickly learned the importance of taking my time to find the right nail and lash artists. Not just based on their ability but also their passion and commitment to their personal best daily. Hiring the right personalities that support our culture isn’t quite enough. Once selected, its equally important to support and nurture these talented ladies! We currently have 18 members of the Hello Birdie flock and still growing!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Hello Birdie Nail & Lash Lab story. Tell us more about the business.
Specializing in modern, creative nail art has been a huge driving force for the success of Hello Birdie. Finally, a place full of friendly, talented nail artists for clients to have a great experience and leave with some amazing hand-painted nail art.

Lash extensions growing fast in the industry too. Quality products and services make all the difference for lash services at Hello Birdie.

We have created a culture that is fun, creative, clean and friendly at Hello Birdie. When clients come in they can feel it and it keeps them coming back for more! We are all very appreciative and lucky to be a part of this rising industry!

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
We have been lucky to get into this specific nail and lash industry during a time that it is launching into the mainstream. I believe as we continue to set a high standard for the industry more salons like us will continue to pop up thus supporting the industry further!

Nail art is now incorporated in to the runway, editorial, commercial and all things fashion. I anticipate this industry to continue to grow as clients enjoy expressing themselves more and more through their artistic nails and beautiful lashes.
