Meet Corey Doggett of Coach Corey in Mission Gorge Place

Today we’d like to introduce you to Corey Doggett.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was working in Marketing out of high school, so naturally I decided to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Business. After doing so and working many years in areas of Marketing and Project Management, I decided to turn my love of fitness into a part-time gig. I spent two years studying meticulously to successfully obtain my certification as a Personal Trainer. After doing personal training part-time on the side for a couple years I knew it was the career for me. I ditched the cubicle for my passion: being a full-time personal trainer. Since then I have helped so many people and cannot imagine myself doing anything else.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Starting from scratch was the largest struggle. I had to hit the ground running and prove myself to new clients while having little-to-no experience. I knew that my passion, personality, and knowledge would get me to where I am now.

Coach Corey – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I offer personal training to clients in various formats, such as one-on-one, small group, and online. The type of training is tailored to the individual’s fitness history, any preexisting conditions, and goals (both short-term and long-term). My focus is on our basic human biomechanics, putting an emphasis on triplanar exercises that challenge muscles and joints on all three planes of movement. As a trainer I maintain the perfect balance of pushing a client to obtain their best results with minimal risk of injury while ensuring they have fun during the process. I am always most proud of my clients that achieve goals much sooner than anticipated, such as improved sleep quality, higher energy levels, pain mitigation, etc. What sets me apart from the other trainers is my focus on you as an individual. Everything from the music you like, to the exercises you hate, to the goals you have… I never use cookie-cutter workouts and never treat two clients the same. Everything is custom tailored to the individual.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
For me success is measured by happiness and the ability to live comfortably (roof over my head and food on the table). There is definitely no dollar amount for success or bucket list to check off. As long as I am comfortable and happy, I am successful.
