Hi Cristy, so great to have you join us again. For folks who might have missed our earlier conversations, can you please take a minute to briefly introduce yourself?
I got “bit by the art bug” in 2018, when I had my first public exhibition at a private art gallery, with several local artists. Although I have been creating these designs for many years, it wasn’t until this event that I realized the impact they could have on others. I received very positive feedback from the other exhibitors, as well as the buyers. I believe this is what created that “initial spark” for me, and what inspired this entire trajectory.
What were you doing before you became an artist?
Before starting my career as an artist, I worked as a professional actress on television and in movies. I appeared on America’s Got Talent, in Justin Timberlake’s Can’t Stop the Feeling music video, in an HBO movie, a Disney show, etc. I also performed sketch and improvisational comedy regularly at local theatres.
What inspired you to become a professional artist?
I know in the other question I mentioned that it was the exhibition event, but honestly, I am not really sure. These drawings are all intuitively created with my left hand. I am not sure exactly where they come from, or why they are there, but they just seem to flow out of me naturally and effortlessly. And I believe it’s just the simplicity and peace that comes from making these creations that inspires me to follow this path.
How long have you been creating art?
I’ve been creating art ever since I was a child. I remember when I was a young girl having a bunch of notepads where I scribbled “art” on. When I was younger, it was a way of escaping the world and creating my own. Of course, it has evolved from when I was 6 years old until adolescence. And then once I hit my teenage years, this style just kind of stuck with me. Now, here I am. Sharing it with the world!
What kind of art do you create?
I create pop art that’s like a cross between graffiti tag, and a Keith Haring hallucination.
Where can we find your art?
At the moment, my art can be found on various sites online. I have links up on my website and also post daily on Instagram. I’ve also minted a bunch of my artwork into NFT’s, which will be ready to be bid on soon. At the time of this article being shared, there’s just a few on Rarible. But I’ve got about 75+ in the process of being distributed through S!ng.
