Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Ramos.
Crystal, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Photography and videography basically runs in my family from my dad to my brother, to me. I’ve always loved taking pictures of other people or things. I used to be called the “camera girl” in my early school days. But back then I didn’t take think to make it a profession or anything serious.
So, I went to nursing school, because a nurse and made that my career. It wasn’t until my co-worker/friend was getting married and needed engagement photos. She came to me looking for advice on photographers, and I on a whim offered to take her photos to help her out. Mind you, I had never offered this to anyone or taken anyone’s photos formally prior to this.
Fast forward, I took her engagement photos, and from there so many people kept asking who her photographer was, to hire. Still, I didn’t take it seriously. It wasn’t until maybe a year later that after I had taken photos for another friend, the same situation happened.
People wanted to hire me. I couldn’t believe it because so many other photographers are so amazing. After a lot of support push, I decided to step into the world of photography. I love capturing beautiful moments and bringing peoples visions to life. It’s true about the saying, “a picture is worth a thousand words.” Pictures are able to freeze one moment in time no matter what kind of photo it is. I like having the ability to capture that.
Has it been a smooth road?
Its never really an easy, smooth road to being successful in something. The struggles I’ve had are the doubts of if I was even good enough to do this. But you learn that you can’t compare yourself to other people because that will be your biggest downfall. And starting out, you have to hustle with finding work. Photography is not a cheap profession to get into. You have to like any job, really love it. And you can tell in someone’s work.
We’d love to hear more about what you do.
I am a photographer. I do all types of photography. I’m more focused on family, newborns, maternity, headshots fashion, and weddings. Things of that nature. I also offer videography & drone videography.
I’m most proud of being able to provide exactly what my clients want. I just want them to be happy with the finished products, that is my main goal. Whatever your vision is, we’ll make it happen.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
To be honest, its an open field. I would love to be super established in the industry, wherever it takes me. I want to be taking photos that are better and better.
