Meet Danielle Ravitz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Ravitz.

Hi Danielle, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always had a passion for spending time in the kitchen, particularly the sweeter side with baking and cake decorating. I started baking for friends and family at a young age and then worked my way through various bakeries throughout Southern and Northern California to fine-tune my craft and soak in as much knowledge as possible about all different styles of baking. I eventually reached a point where I was ready to branch out start my own business, and Sweetflower Bakery was born.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It is not always easy. My business is still very small, and with that comes growing pains. I’m a pretty optimistic person, and I like to dream big and set high goals for myself. Sometimes things don’t go according to plan right away, and I’ve had to realize that everything takes time, and my small steps add up to reach the big goals.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Sweetflower Bakery, I specialize in bespoke cakes, cookies with unique flavor profiles, bars, and more. Sweetflower bakery uses high-quality, organic and natural ingredients to create decadent treats of all kinds. Hence the name, Sweetflower is highly inspired by all things nature, especially fresh flowers. On Sweetflower cake designs, you can be sure to find some combination of lush botanicals, exquisite piping, dreamy gold accents, seasonal fresh fruit and an equally magical flavor. Also, specializing in vegan and gluten-free options so there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I love reading through cookbooks written by bakers and business owners that I admire. Some of my favorites are The Violet Bakery Cookbook by Claire Ptak and Huckleberry: Stories, Secrets, and Recipes From Our Kitchen by Zoe Nathan.
