Meet Darren Solomon of Kid Ventures

Today we’d like to introduce you to Darren Solomon.

In 1996, Debbie Solomon wanted to translate her background in gymnastics and children’s education to a very unique enterprise. She purchased a school bus and transformed it into a mini gymnastics studio, bringing her love for fitness to children and families throughout the greater San Diego area. Experiencing a great deal of success, the next logical step was to expand to a physical children’s gymnastics and fitness center. Debbie joined forces with husband, Darren Solomon to create a unique and enriching concept for children and parents. In 2008, to the delight of children and families alike, the first Kid Ventures was born!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been a very enriching road but not a smooth one…as with any small and growing business story. We had ups and downs during the recession and then went through a very difficult time in 2014 when we had to close down our original Pacific Beach location due to a City zoning issue. This was a very successful and sentimental location for us so closing it and making it through that time financially and emotionally was difficult.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Kid Ventures – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are San Diego’s premier family enrichment and party brand and have won numerous awards for our services, our involvement in the community and the growth we have seen over the past 9 years.

We specialize in providing high-quality enrichment services to families with children ages 1-6 years including preschool, educational classes, creative play, parties and a parent cafe located inside each of our three San Diego locations

We are most proud of the work we do for children and families in need. We have hosted a number of events for children facing life threatening illnesses, have worked with foster agencies throughout San Diego, helped to feed homeless families and partner with special needs organizations throughout San Diego. We are passionate about impacting the lives of children and families who need us the most and that is what makes Kid Ventures so special.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We want to continue to grow the Kid Ventures brand by expanding on our services (like our new preschool which we launched in 2017 at all of our locations). We would also like to open more Kid Ventures locations throughout the United States. Lastly, we are committed to finding a way to create a Kid Ventures concept that can be operated as a non-profit directly inside children’s’ hospitals across the country to serve those families dealing with illness.

Our big changes are our focus on BIG growth and BIG impact!!!
