Meet Darwin Vasay of High Power Massage in Mission Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Darwin Vasay.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started my business about 1year and 1 month ago. I was working at another spa in San Diego when I decided to open up my own practice. I felt that I my talent and my time was more precious than to be stuck in a corparate company with lots of rules and unbalanced incentives. My experience and knowledge in the massage therapy field is worth more than to have set boundaries within my practice. 6 years ago, I was a former business owner of a martial arts school in Jacksonville, Florida. I knew that it was only a matter of time that I would be able to have my own business once again and be successful in doing what I love.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Opening a business isn’t always easy. You have to make sure you are 100% in. You have to sacrifice and dedicate every ounce of your time and money in order to see great results. Mentally, I had to make sure I was ready to face the challenges I would run into with establishing the business. Creating my business outline and plan was different from what I was used to from my previous business. I felt vulnerable about not having a strong clientele. However, having a plan in hand definitely helped and reminded me to be persistent and confident every day of operation.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the High Power Massage story. Tell us more about the business.
High Power Massage is a massage therapy business dedicated to those in need of superior body work treatment. I specialize in Deep Tissue/Sports Massage and Neuromuscular Therapy. What sets me apart from other therapists is that my technique.
I have the ability to mix techniques from all the modalities I learned in my years of practice and in school Each client will receive a customized therapy session in order to feel the best results.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I think good luck or bad luck isn’t key. I believe if you persevere and put in work then you will be successful. If you surround yourself with the right role models and leaders, I believe that can be a heavy influence to your craft.
