Meet Desiree Fortin of Shutter & Spice Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Desiree Fortin.

Desiree, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Growing up, I always loved taking pictures. I always wanted to capture the moment and have something to document the memory. My passion for photography continued to grow. I started pursing my passion as a career right after I graduated college. I continue to grow and learn as time goes by and I wouldn’t trade this passion to capture moments for anything.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I would say, like most business, starting out was not easy. I had to build my cliental and learn how to build a business. It has been such an amazing and growing experience over the years. Now, I am a Mom of two-year-old triplets and I am learning a whole new balance between Motherhood and Business. I love that my job also allows me to share in and capture priceless moments of my children too!

Shutter & Spice Photography – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a Birth and Newborn Photographer. Initially, I thought my heart was for weddings. And while I still take on weddings here and there, I truly cannot get enough of birth and newborn photography. There is absolutely nothing like photographing the birth a child. It is so intimate and beautiful. Newborn babies are such precious gifts from Heaven and it is such an honor for me to capture such special images for families. I am proud of my work and how much I have grown. I truly work hard to capture stunning images that represent a spectacular moment in time and meet the hearts of my clients.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I personally feel success is knowing you did your absolute best. That is the most important thing. I feel like every single time I set out to do a shoot my goal is to meet my client’s needs the best that I can and know that best of me that I can.
