Meet Desiree Villalpando of Beauty Collective Company in Point Loma and Sports Arena

Today we’d like to introduce you to Desiree Villalpando.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I actually started working in a salon in High School as a Junior Apprentice. I worked for a few years then was a ballroom dance teacher for 6 years when I decided I wanted to do hair again. I like most stylists, worked in several salons until I opened my first salon in Old Town in 2005. I began doing more photoshoots, and commercial work so after 7 years I decided to close my salon and focus on freelancing. It didn’t take long before I realized it was hard to work for someone else after I had been my own boss for so long. I then reopened another salon the building I am now. I am fully staffed and so proud of my team. I truly enjoy coming to work every day to work with both my clients and other artists. We have so much fun together.

Has it been a smooth road?
I think every stylist dreams of owning a salon one day. The challenge for us artists is to be business minded as well as creative. There is a lot to operating a salon. Yes, we want it to be beautiful, but I am the maid, plumber, accountant and whatever I need to be to keep it going. The biggest challenge has been to find quality, professional artists that truly love what they do and give great customer service. Now that I found them, I am never letting them leave! 🙂

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Beauty Collective Company – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
The Beauty Collective Company is a team of Hair and Makeup Artists that specialize in different services. We have everything from a color educator, multicultural artist, hair extension specialist, eyelash extension expert, makeup artists that have done TV, film, commercial print and Bridal and more!

What sets us apart is that you get to choose the perfect artist for you and your beauty needs.

Clients can read each artists bio and see who would be the best fit for them and their lifestyle.

We offer complimentary consultations because we believe it is the MOST important part of your service. We want to make sure the communication is clear and we are speaking the same language to create the exact look you want. Then you come in, relax while enjoying a glass of coffee, tea or wine along with light snacks. You will leave feeling incredible, looking fabulous and ready to conquer the world!

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
We love San Diego for its diversity. We have every kind of client from laid back beach lifestyle to the business executives who want luxury. The only thing that surprises me is how San Diegans do not like to drive. If its more than 20 Minutes away, they act like it’s a 3 hour drive.
