Meet Devon Vernetti of Acupuncture by Devon in Central

Today we’d like to introduce you to Devon Vernetti.

Devon, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I became a healthcare professional to work with people, become an educator and make a difference in my patient’s lives by providing an effective, preventative, and non-invasive healthcare solution. Being an acupuncturist allows me to achieve all of these goals. In 2006, I was accepted to Pacific College of Oriental Medicine where I graduated Summa Cum Laude and earned a Master of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine. I continued my education at the Chengdu University Hospital in the Sichuan Province of China where I observed first hand an integrated healthcare management system. I began practicing in 2010 at a small acupuncture clinic sharing space with the owner for a couple of years.

In 2013, I moved to an integrative clinic that staffed a variety of healthcare practitioners. This allowed me to expand my patient reach and to learn from different practitioners. My current clinic home is at Your Healthy Spine where daily I work beside chiropractors, massage therapist, a marriage and family counselor and a naturopathic doctor. Most recently, I went back to school to completed my Doctorate of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM).

Has it been a smooth road?
I feel I have been fortunate on my journey. I started my career working for two seasoned practitioners who were looking to work less and refer patients to a trusted acupuncturist. After about a year and a half, I had established my own clientele with rave Yelp and word-of-mouth reviews that allowed me to sustain a full practice for the past 6 years of my practice. I am not a fan of marketing, but it is necessary. I accomplish this through educating my patients on all the healing aspects of acupuncture and herbs as well as encouraging my patients to discuss with others how they have benefited from treatment. I believe I made some well thought out decisions early on that have paved a smooth road to running a successful practice and received recognition through awards and nominations for these efforts.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Acupuncture by Devon – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am passionate about my practice and purpose in the healthcare field. My mission is to be a compassionate listener, provide the highest quality patient-centered treatments and to educate each individual about how they can achieve optimal mental, emotional and physical wellness. I strive in my personal life to reach optimal health and be a role model for my patients. I have a diverse practice including specialties in fertility, pregnancy, pediatrics, pain management, sports injuries and internal medicine. I am most proud of my patients and their successes. Whatever my patient is trying to achieve, they have responsibility to work towards their goals. I not only provide acupuncture, herbal remedies and nutritional advice, but I am their support and coach through difficult times and a stable and reliable resource when they are sick, need a tune up or want to reach new levels with their healthcare goals.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
It is hard to say anything bad about San Diego except maybe the traffic. We are fortunate to live in a city that encourages us to be outside all year long. We have the beach, the mountains and desert to commune with nature and move our bodies. It is a generally relaxed atmosphere so the speed of life is closer to a vacation bliss than to a busy city. I couldn’t ask to live and practice in a better city.
