Meet Douglas Saboe of Douglas Saboe Hair Design in North Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Douglas Saboe.

Douglas, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m a third generation hairdresser. My mom and grandmother did hair over 30 years and both owned their own salons. I grew up in the industry. My mother also ran a beautiful school when I was about 5 years old. So literally I have been around the hair work my entire life.

I have been licensed over 30 years now. I have owned my salon over 7 years and I love every moment of it. It has been a lot of hard work but I’m use to the work that needs to be done to achieve my goals. Education is the key as well. I have attended and received certification in hundreds of continued education classes. I now educate for two companies as a way to give back to my industry as well as the younger generation.

I also volunteer on regular basis since I was 19. Most recently I started and furnished a volunteer salon in the Ronald McDonald House (RMDHSDC) that I had ran for over a decade. Currently I am looking for my next volunteer and business venture. Always looming to the future 🙂

Has it been a smooth road?
Contractors are always a struggle. Working with the public a struggle sometimes. Employees. So yes there are struggles but take a deep breath and hit it head on.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I do great hair. I focus on only the best of all I use. That’s Color, Extensions, Cuts, Keratins Smoothing. I research the best products to pass on to my clients. Any and all business should be always the best.

My specialty has been color & cutting and extensions. I’m known for my color matching extensions and skills cutting. I’m most proud of all the donations and volunteer work I do.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Absolutely, it’s a great town to have this type of business.
